Finally Restriction.....now What?

Recommended Posts

I was feeling very frustrated up to this point. No restriction after 2 fills and had gained 3 lbs since my surgery date of April 18th. (My total weight loss since January is 23 lbs.) At my appointment this past Thursday, my surgeon agreed to an aggressive fill and I now have 9.5cc in my 14cc band. (1st fill - 2cc, 2nd fill - 4cc).I finally have restriction and hopefully will begin losing.Today at lunch...I did not chew enough and I began PB'ing and having pain and within a few minutes everything came back up! I have to remember to eat slow and chew, chew, chew. I learned a lesson today and hopefully won't experience that again. I hope I'm not too tight...I guess time will let me know. I've been patiently waiting for restriction and not sure what to expect from here on out.

I don't know what to tell you but I hope things turn out well and that you don't have to go through that again. Some people say it has taken 3 and 4 fills to get restriction so maybe this bigger one will help you a lot. Practice what you know and hopefully it will be ok. Best of luck to you!

Whenever the restriction changes in your band, it's a definite learning experience. I honestly thought I was eating slow and taking small bites prior to my fill in May, so when I found myself constantly stuck, sliming, and even PB'd once the following week I thought I might be too tight.

But then I took even tinier bites and realized that was the problem. I've been fine ever since.

This, btw, is how small of bites I now take:

I put my finger next to the bite so you can see how small it is by comparison.

Good luck :)

I definitely need to slow down and take smaller bites. I have had a stuck episode each day for

the last five days. I think that I am taking small bites and I chew but still I have an episode. I just saw the example from Mis 73 and no, my bites have not been that small so I think maybe that is the problem.

Thank you Ms73 for the visual! That helps me a lot. My bites were not small enough today in comparison. I've since had a small bowl of Soup and I feel satisfied.

Thank you fericito....you are right...I need to practice what I know.

my second fill was july 9, and i too thought that prior to that fill i was eating slow and small bites...nope..ive learned in the past 5 days..just what slow means lol. The visual above is great..my bites have been slightly bigger than that..but yes..they are almost crumbs in comparison to past size bites.

Gosh that's pretty small. I sometimes don't realize how big my bites are and I don't think I chew enough (supposed to chew 30 times, right?) just went to a class on mindfulness. Talked about wise eating vs rational and emotional eating. I found it interesting that all too often we aren't really paying attention to our eating... The texture, the smell, the taste, size, etc.

I could never eat a bite that small. I need to take bites that are big enough that I am able to chew them. I don't take huge bites but mine are still a fairly normal size. Just shows that everyone is different and has to find what works for them.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
