Has anyone experience pain around the port area? If

so how long did it last? My surgery was June 28!

I had my surgery May 21st. My port site hurt (ridiculously) for at least 4 weeks. My doctor told me it was uncommon and I went through a whole bottle of pain medicine in 5 days (at the doctor's direction). I marvel at the people who are "up and about" one or two days after surgery. I took a week off of work, and when I tried to go back, left work early 3 days because of the pain. I was pretty much out of work for two weeks and unable to do a lot of things until about 4 weeks. Then again, that's just my experience.

Hello there Rosario!! I actually have been wondering the same thing!! I also had my surgery on June 28th and have been feeling pretty good with the exception of still having pain around the port area. It does seem like two weeks out is a long time and should have already passed, so am hoping others on here can share if this is true or not. I did call my doctors office yesterday bc I had a little piece of the internal suture pointing out of the skin and asked what to do about it and at the same time asked about the pain. She just said some people have had to go back into surgery bc of placement irritation or after they loose significant weight the placement really bothers them. Not what I wanted to hear from her (granted this was NOT the doctor). But she also said to give it about 4-6 weeks before getting concerned. Also want to add I called the office about the suture bc I saw on here a post of someone else having the same issue and the advice was to use tweezers to pull it out. She said NOT to do that bc it could pull out internal sutures!! She said to soak a pair of nail clippers in some alcolhol and then clip as close to skin as possible.

Looking forward to advice/opinions on port pain.........Thanks

Hello you guys, i went to my follow up yesterday and my doctor said it was totally normal to be in a bit of pain, It might last for up to 4/5 weeks. He told me to wear a girdle for support and it's been working :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
