I just ordered 100 lap-band chewable vitamins and 15 unflavored Protein packets from Unjur for 56.00. This is medical quality Protein that can be added to my puree's, shakes, coffee (haha). I find this very reasonable price. I have to have packets for the plane flights to Mexico in August for surgery. Plan to add these twice daily pre-op and post op. This will equal 50g protein that I won't have to worry about achieving some other way... And the Vitamins are chewable...

I just ordered the starter kit and my son called and said it was delivered today. I hope they taste as good as all have been saying. Let me know if you like them. I'm going to make a shake tomorrow morning to try it out. If I like it, I'll be ordering more for after my surgery to have on hand. I was wondering about the chewable vitamins also. Let me know what you think about them also, please.

I know there are lot's of companies who make quality Vitamins & minerals. I've checked into GNC Vitamins, Trader Joes, and a local health store about what they carry. Most pharmasists that I've personally talked with all agree that I could use a good quality local vitamin/mineral pill but maybe have to take 2 pills a day to provide all that is required. I do agree to also include antioxidents/minerals which most vita companies don't provide in their ingredients.

Guess we have to try and find a company we like the taste or maybe mix the daily pills in a shake to take daily.

I just bought/rec'd Centrum chewables. I haven't tried them yet, but the nutritionist said they will work. She also wants me to take an additional Iron supplement though - any suggestions?

I've also started my subscribe and save on Amazon for Muscle Milk light. It's not the most amazing tasting, but again approved by my nutritionist...

I won't start my pre-op diet until August 13th but I've been making Unjury vanilla Protein Shakes for Breakfast with a few strawberries blended in. It's very tasty! After surgery I won't be able to have milk or the added fruit for a while but I will be able to have the unjury with just Water. I haven't tried it with water just yet. I started with the vanilla and unflavored and I'll order the chocolate and starter kit this week.

I have been having a hard time with the Protein Shakes. I have tried the EAS advantage, muscle milk light and Unjury chocolate splendor. I think adding the Water to the Unjury is gross. My bariatric coordinator suggested I tried the test tube shots from Walmart and I can tolerate those if I plug my nose to drink them followed by strong Crystal Light. The watermelon shots have 42g of Protein in them. Anyone have suggestions? I am on day 10 of my pre-op diet and will be having surgery on the 23rd of August. I can't wait, but this pre-op diet may kill me. Ugh.

I really enjoy the unjury shakes. I have only had them with water. I have had the Vanilla, Chocolate and chicken flavor. Not bad!!! I also ordered the opurity chewable vitamins and they are OK.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
