So... I got my date today, August 13th! He uses an 11cc band on everyone. I asked the surgeon how much he puts in per fill. He told me the first fill, after 1 month, he puts in 4cc, the second he puts in 3, the third he puts in 2cc. Once there's 9cc's he does small adjustments but he likes his patients to be around 9cc. Doesn't that seem like a lot? He said they obviously won't fill you if you don't need it but it will be those large amounts if you do.

Hmm. That's kind of odd to me, because fills aren't "one size fits all". I have an 8cc band. My doctor put 3ccs in at first, but then it was too tight after I tried drinking Water so I just have 1cc in. I am more comfortable going gradually so I can adjust my eating accordingly. I have noticed some people on here go faster though.

I've only had one fill so far (surgery May 18th) but he did 3 cc's and I have an 11 cc band.

My surgeon said he goes fill by fill, no set amount schedule, and judges it by weight loss. He said he typically will do 3 for the first one and asked if I agreed (kind of surprised me - like I know the difference right now! It was a nice gesture though.)

I had 5ccs in my 10cc band at surgery. My first fill was 0.8ccs, but I found that it was borderline too much at once, as I couldn't burp well for a day. Now I get .2ccs at a time, just more often.

Thank you for your replies, it seems about normal what my surgeon does. :)

I am very leery of doctors that have a set amount for fills...everyone is different..and 5cc's may be ok for you but too much for another and not enough of another..I think it should be done on a case by case basis. Just my 2 cents

I have had about a dozen fills and two unfills. My 1st fill one month post op was 1 ccs and since then I only get .10-.25 ccs or so. Just a tweak every month to tighten me up a little from the fat pad I've lost with weight loss. I think I am finally at a good restriction level, one and a half years post op and will not need to see my surgeon every month anymore :) I think I have about six ccs in my band, really not sure lol. Good luck to you on your journey!

It sounds to me that he has a standard protocol he follows, but listens to the patient as to how things are going and will divert as needed. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm august 13 too. my dr has an idea of how much generally goes in each fill but isn't hard and fast about it. He told me that it will go by my weight loss and what I say, if I can eat anything and haven't lost weight, he puts in the standard amount and makes adjustments from there.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
