tomato pie reacted to sh1984 in Pcos Is A #@!$
Hi Everyone! I am new on here and I was really excited to see that there is something on here about PCOS. I was diagnosed with it about 4 1/2 yrs ago and it has been a journey that is very hmmm what should one say lets say interesting. I got married in 2007 and thought that there might me some fertility issues but I wasn't sure, and I wasn't really ready yet for a little one. So we waited a year then started trying. Well I went through all the tests and insurance wouldn't cover hardly anything. So I decided lets start adn try a cycle of the IUI. Well we were blessed on our very first try which is so rare that my doc was very impressed with herself. We were able to have a healthy little girl in Jan of 10. I did have some issues with blood pressure or preeclampsyia but made it to the end. She is now 2 1/2 and on accident we got pregnant again with no help in and had a healthy baby boy in May of this year. I have so many friends that struggle with PCOS and all that goes along with it. I am at 258 lbs and i am 5'7". I am going to be starting my amazing journey on August 14th. I truly believe that I started having all my problems after I did 3 rounds of the Depo shot when i was in my early 20's that for me is when all my problems started. It has been alot of ups and downs with everything. PCOS is xpensive and they really cannot tell you what causes it or what doesn't. It is a very frustating thing that way to many young women have. I just thought that I would share my story and hopefully it will help someone who is experiencing the ups and downs. I am starting this process of my children and for myself. I want to be able to run and play and feel good. I hope that my journey is everything that I am hoping it will be

I thought I'd let you all in on my current (pre-band) weight loss success secret. Here it is: big nasty bugs. My son is currently into catching bugs and putting them in a "bug house". Somehow that bug house ended up in the kitchen right next to the refridgerator and I'll tell you that ,for me, is the best deterrent. Ever. As soon as I see those big nasty things or hear them scratching around I make a beeline for the door. Ewwwww! It is working though

Well guys I'm alert enough to post. I'll give a play by play. I went in at eight they were very quick to get me in. They are so nice and understanding about your nerves. They put in an iv made me pee in a cup just to make sure I wasn't prego lol. My tubes are tied no trouble there. Took off my jewelry and ring ext.. wheeled me back gave me happy juice. They wheeled me on operating room on a stretcher. I was awake to move to operating table. Then I got a shot and out I went. I woke up to not being able to breath as they pulled the tube from my mouth. That was a bit scary. Then I awoke again in the recovery. Yes I was in pain and very nauseous but they quickly gave me lots of pain meds and fenergrin. I had to swallow this barium so they could see me drink it ess pretty cool watching that in x ray. Then took out my iv discharge instructions and home I went.gas bubble moving around. Most ppl toot I've been belching. Gas ex strips pain meds fenergrin I'm good to go guys. I still havnt been up yet. My doc said I need to move around tomorrow. My husband is super man for sure. It hurts but I know the results are gonna be good. Goodluck guys! And thanks for the support and if you have anymore questions let me know. I know how scary it is. Oh and I feel like I did 1 million crunches then someone punched me in the tummy. And my throat is very dry!!!

I remember at a pre op appointment, I told my nutritionist I was sad at the thought of never eating pizza again. She laughed and said "who said you could never have pizza again? You'll just have 1 piece instead of 4!" that made me happy. Haha. Haven't tried pizza post band yet but I heard thin crust is easier. Cant wait to try pita pizza soon.

You may think it ignorant to chose surgery if there is a better option, but honestly, for a majority of the patients who have the Lap Band installed, all other options have been exercised.
I know how my body reacts to surgery, I have no problems with anesthesia and yes I do agree that there is a risk, but life is inherently filled with risks. Just because there is a chance that I might get in a car accident on my way home from work does not prevent me from driving a car. I could die slipping in the shower, but those risks are not going to stop me from my daily ritual. By making an educated decision about all things in life you can only hope from the best and choose not live your life in fear. Life in an of itself is a leap of faith, why should getting the lap band be any different?

I want to have children. I imagine telling them that I dreamt about them and loved them before they were even born and did one of the hardest things I have ever had to do so that I could have them.

Never in my wildest dreams did I EVER think I would be writing this post! My one year bandiversary is June 27th and I hit my 100lb, actually 101lb, loss this morning!!!! I am over the moon happy with all the wonderful changes in my life! I am finally living again, and for the first time in a long, long, long, while I actually feel comfortable in my own skin.
For all of you newbies out there reading this I encourage you to keep the faith and stay strong in your long journey to your goal. It is SOOOOOO worth it.
By the way, I had a breast reduction and abdominoplasty 3 weeks ago and am so happy with the results!!!
My best wishes to all bandsters out there!!!!!

The only person that knows I am having this done is my husband, and he is sworn to secrecy I also feel very guilty for not telling my mother because she is the one who watches my 2 year old while I go to all these mystery appointments. I want to tell her , but, like you, I have a lot of "nosey Nancy's" in my family who would all be fighting for the prestigious title of Sargeant Food Police :/

Hey guys! After many months of lurking around on here almost daily, I've decided to finally create an account, lol! I don't know what I was so afraid of I am 25 years old and from Pennsylvania. I am currently on month 4 of the 6 month physician supervised diet. Starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, but I'm sure this feeling will pass...at some point :/

I don't really have any answer but I do have a suggestion. Could you ask if they have a self pay price? My dentist will give a 20% off self pay price if you pay by credit card at time of service.

My insurance was billed $578 bucks for that 30 minute appointment. Out of pocket I paid $20 bucks.

I think mine was just over $200 so $185 sounds about right.

I told my Mom that the only advantage to being severely overweight is that my doctor is waiving a lot of the prereq's for me. I just have to do a barium swallow, EKG, and lab work. It's about time being this big was beneficial, or at least it's nice that it's going to benefit me in being smaller lol.

I know what you mean about your children having an active mom, I often feel like I am just sitting on the sidelines of life watching everyone else get to play the game. I have a 2 year old son and I feel guilty that I can't run around with him as much as my husband can But not for long! I am determined to change and be successful with the lapband when I get it good luck to you, I really mean that.

Hey everyone, I was banded May 11th and things are going really well. Sometimes its a bit frustrating but for the most part I kinda like the routine (though its tricky fitting it all in and moving from stage to stage). I've lost about 22lbs and am fairly active, looking forward to the gym this week! Glad I found this forum!
