I Had Lap-Band And Stomach Plication (I-Band) 1 Wk Ago.

Recommended Posts

I got my I-band last week and had hernia surgery at the same time. I am 100 pounds over weight and worried that I will fail. I have wanted the help to get healthy for over 20 years and just now could get it.

I feel so lost because there is on one in my area to talk to about what I am going through. Is anyone else feeling this lost? I constantly question anything I eat and drink. I was gave a list and I stick to it but I still feel like I am doing it wrong. PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE LET ME KNOW.

Today is the first time that I have been real hungry, so bad that my stomach is growling and everyone can hear it. Will this get better when I finally do get a fill?

Thank for any and all help anyone can give me.

Danna

There is a post on people that have had this operation, look for the " plication pioneers" and " lap band with plication" do a search and read these threads and contact the people that had this type of surgery! All the best to you?

What you're feeling is totally normal. I got my band with gastric plication in May. Sometimes I eat things that don't agree with me. Every day is a learning process. Overall I'm feeling pretty good and looking forward to losing more weight. This site has been really helpful for me and it's great support! Good luck.

Danna,

I am 2 weeks out, feeling some of the same things you're feeling.

My surgeon is Dr. Carter at True Results, I went to one of the support meetings they offer a few weeks before my surgery and it really helped.

I'm looking forward to going again :)

If you need a buddy count me in!

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I see y'all are having good result, I am not. I guess it will just come with time. I stay hungry and my stomach growls like crazy. I just hope that when I get a fill that maybe my mind and my stomach will easy up.. lol

Dont compare yourself or your weight loss to others! That was a huge lesson I had to learn for myself. Personally, I am a slow loser, I have had my band since December, and lost 50 lbs to date. I see others that are 100+ lbs down and I question what I am doing wrong. There is nothing wrong, just the way your body chooses to lose. Dont get discouraged. This forum is a great place to get support, meet people, and move forward. Keep your chin up, it does get better, but first you have to get through whats known as "bandster hell"

I haven't seen anyone offering Gastric banding with Plication in New Zealand. I just googled it - sounds like a mix of Banding and stomach stapling- without removing any stomach tissue - is that right? If I've got it wrong - can someone explain what the procedure is? Thanks. :-)

Yes. It's a mix of sleeve plication with the band. It's still relatively new.

I just had my surgery dec 17, 2013. I went to Dr. Robert Snow and got the lap band and stomach plication as well as hernia repair. I am very early in my journey and hoping to get some advice from some of you who have had the same procedure done. I'm unsure as to how much my stomach can now hold, liquid or food, and I am still on the liquid/purée phase post op diet. My stomach rumbles all the time and I am taking in between 600-900 calories a day. I usually eat/drink about a cup of Soup or pureed Beans 3 times a day. Sometimes I feel stuffed and other times not. I do have cramping sometimes but I know I am still healing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
