Has Anybody Lost A Lot A Weight And Gained Most Of It Back?

Recommended Posts

So i Havent Gotten a Fill in Almost a year until 2 weeks ago... My LOWEST WEIGHT was in July 2011 at 213lbs and now i weigh 256lbs. My Original Weight was 310 You Do the Math

:(.... Its Dissappointing but i take the Blame for it... I should of Kept Up With My Fills... So the day of My doctors visit he gave me 2 fills... Im Eating Less of course but the weight is not coming off like it used to... i did change my diet but to be honest since 2009 all i was eating was pretty much junk food just not as much as i used to consume before my sugery and i ended up loosing 99pounds and not really working out as much as i do now... So it's to the point where im weighing my self everyday... Im kind of getting depressed about it.... Has anybody had this problem before If so can i get some advice on what i should do.

throw away the scale. its not helping you ! eat right,, exercise and keep up on your fills. When your clothes start falling off then you'll know you're following your Dr.s orders. but get rid of the scale now before it depresses you any further ! a machine is not a measure of self worth ! good luck !

My advice to you is get to a "Support Group" it will help you get motivated again and there will be lots of people there that have gone thru what you are going thru... this is only a suggestion of course.

Keep up the good work, you made the first step by getting it tightened and getting back with the program.

Also remember you are 3 years older if you had your surgery in 2009. As woman, time does seem to slow things down. So losing may not be as fast this time as the first time, but as long as you are losing your not gaining.

We all have our times when we fall off track but you can start over anytime you want and you are doing it before you gained it all back, thats good!

I agree the best help is a support group. Find one or start your own with people in your area.

I feel the same way. I was losing great and then I was too tight last summer but was losing fast so I left it that way (bad I know). When I couldn't take it anymore I went to the doc and he removed a lot because I asked him to. Well after that I started gaining the weight back. I have gained 30 pounds back. I went and got a small fill but I was afraid to fill back to what it was when i was too tight (this was December 2011). I have not lost since that fill and have not been back to the doctor either. I do feel some restriction but not like when I was really losing. I just started working out again so hopefully that will jump start the loss again. I am debating going for a fill again but I just don't want to be too tight again. UGH I hate this...so yea I can relate to your struggles. HATE IT!!!

I too was banded in 2009 lost 40 pounds and gained about 35 due to pregnancy as of today im back to my lowest after surgery/ pre baby weight took me about 3 months to lose 35 pounds abd totally agree with you it is much harder this 2nd time around. Idk why maybe cuz of motivation isnt the same? I now track my calories on mu fitness pal its set to 1200 but i average about 800-1000 a day no junk food and i work out 60 mins a day 6 days a week and burn 450-500 calories a work out i dont stop till i see those numbers..

On the my fitness pal theres a section under goals i believe that tells u how many calories u should be buring ( depending on ur goals) a week to lose the 2 pounds you should be loosing a week!

Good luck to you and just know that IT CAN BE DONE u did it the first time just have to keep at it and not get discouraged!

That seems like an unhealthy way to live. Can you just get a tiny fill? Like 0.5cc or less?

I was banded at the end of 2008. I have lost some weight, but i have only been able to keep off 30 lbs. I have not eaten like i should or exercised enough. I love sweets. They are a problem for me. Also, I consume too many carbs and not enough Protein. Does anyone know of a good Protein Drink that does have a bad aftertaste? Good night everyone!

I lost 100 pounds and regained 54. Sucks to work so hard to lose the weight again. But I am. Slowly. I recommitted about 3 months ago when I thought I might lose my band. I have re-lost 25 pounds. It has been hard... but I am just done with letting food control me.

I am not happier when I eat ****. Well I am for the moment I eat it and then I am depressed. So enough of that vicious cycle!!

You can absolutely do this!! You did it once. Stay focused!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
