Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am interested in getting the Lap Band procedure and would like some input on where to get started. I am 21 years old, 5 foot 7 and wiegh 245. I have a BMI of 36.9. I have not yet gone to my doctor to talk to her about this but I am making an appointment soon. Any suggestions or tips for me as I embrak on this new journey? My mom had the Gastric Bypass surgery a couple years ago. I guess you can say I have her every gene. I am up for some rough health problems and want to stop going in that direction. I have tried everything from wieght watchers to nutrisystem to herba life and still cannot loose the weight. Adivce about my situation would be appreciated.

Call your insurance and find out their policy on bariatric surgery. It looks like you're BMI is closer to 38, and usually you need a 40+ if you don't have any other health issues.

Research the procedure a lot and read the ins and outs. Also, research the other WLS options just so you know the differences.

Do your research and then do more. Don't believe everything your read on the weight loss forums. Go to the Allergan sight and Realize band sights and download a copy of their booklet. They are the manufacturers of the bands. Also you will have a lot of tests done. Make sure you get copies of everything. I guarantee you when the process gets going someone will say, "oh, I didn't get a copy of that". Good Luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
