Hi! I'm new to the forum so I apologize if this is a common question. I have my surgery on Monday the 18th and am doing a three week liquid diet before. The first week I lost 8 pounds, the second week one pound, and now it's Wednesday of the third week and I'm back up a pound. Has anyone else experienced this? It really makes me worried that maybe the surgery won't work if I can't even lose weight not eating at all!! And no, I've never cheated and are real food. Any thoughts?

One of the people I talked to said some people dont lose any weight during the pre opt diet. What liquids are you taking, are they high in calories? I have to do a protine shake pre opt diet for 2 weeks. Nothing but that and any calorie free drinks. Good luck!

I sure hope some replies come rolling in because I'm finding myself in a similar situation.

I'm also on a just Protein Drink and no calorie liquid diet. It's the carnation instant Breakfast in the blue box with Protein mixed in. I honestly meant it when i say i never cheated and ate real food (i did in my dreams a lot though lol!) I even have been getting at least 15-30 min of exercise in, which I know isn't a lot but it has to be better than nothing! It's just frustrating.

If it makes you feel any better I'm at restriction eat less than 1200 cals a day and do up to 2 1/2 hours of modererate cardio DAILY; and I loose less than 1 pound a week. Some of us just loose slower than others.

Now for some fun facts. You lost 8 pounds. The first couple pounds is Water weight. Now ever pound will require cutting your calories by 3500, or burning off 3500 cals with exercise. Your body is also in a bit of a panic and thinks if it holds off loosing any weight eventually you will start feeding it again.

Now that we've made the decision to loose weight we want it to happen like yesterday. Unfortunately this is long journey and not a sprint.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
