Last night I started a bout with the stomach flu. I am 1 month out from being banded. I was given some anti-nausea meds before surgery if I was ever going to vomit. Unfortunately they didn't work last night. I got sick about 5 times and pretty violent. What are the chances that it damaged my lapband?

I wanted to get some opinions before I called my doctor.

CALL YOUR SURGEON THIS MORNING,ASAP! Vomtting, real vomitting, can cause a slip and damage your band. Your surgeon can check it. You might need to go in, but you probably don't have any fill so it might not be too bad. Drink Clear Liquids and take care. Karen

Definitely call your surgeon's office ASAP...I was advised that any vomiting incident needs to be reported and discussed with the nursing staff at the office, and then they will follow up with appropriate measures.

Give your system a rest, but do your best to stay properly hydrated. I also got sick during my immediate post op period, and ended up in the hospital with severe dehydration.

Hope you feel better fast!

Try not to freak out, chances are you're okay, but as mentioned I would call your surgeon and let them know. He may want you to come in so he can check you out.

Thank you everyone for your comments.

I did call the doctor yesturday and had to have an unfill until it passes. I went from 7ccs to 4ccs. They were afraid of a slip.

That sucks, but probably for the best. I'm sure you can get it put back in once you're feeling better!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
