How To Settle A Nervous Stomach?

Recommended Posts

I am 1 week and 1 day from my surgery date and all these random questions keep popping in my head so I figured I would ask here!

Normally when I have a big presentation or meeting coming up my stomach gets upset. Under normal circumstances I would grab ginger ale or some crackers to calm it down.

Does "nervous stomach" still happen after a band? How do you cope?

I was super nervous before my surgery too & I get nervous stomach. I kept watching you tube lapband stories. Bad, bad idea (made me crazy). Most important is to stay hydrated. I was banded on may 31st & had my 1st week pre op today. All is well. Surgery wasn't that bad, the worst part for me was the gas pains in back & shoulder. You'll be just fine:). I'm happy to share my experience if you have questions.

this may be an overly simply answer, but the answer is a good old fashioned hard candy peppermint for me. calms my stomach after i eat or if i'm nervous

I use Peppermint as well when on the run. One thing that we also do which is really really good for you is Ginger. We take a little slice of it and blend it in with our Protein Drink in the morning, you peel it and it blends right in. Ginger is a bit spicy sweet and you use just a bit. My Mom used to use it for heartburn and her upset tummy/heartburn but she would use a little piece of the dried candied ginger and that will also settle your tummy.

I also find that I meditate at night before bed, my hubby got me into it and makes our shakes for us. He is not banded nor does he need to be but we work it together. If I have a nervous tummy happening, I also try to do it pretty fast and calm myself down. Many people still drink a bit of soda in these situations just let the bubbles go away and sit for a few minutes if you need to drink it.

I will do that will regular coke and that will help but I do not drink soda on a regular basis anymore, I have found I don't want it nor do I need it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
