How does this work for you?

Can you process nuts? Beans? Boca burgers?

How has the band changed your vegetarian life style? Made it harder? Easier?

I'm not a vegetarian but I find nuts incredibly easy to eat. In fact so easy that i have to be careful I don't overdo it.So I imagine that nuts will still be able to be part of your diet, just make sure you exercise good Portion Control.< /p>

I eat all sorts of Beans and they don't give me any issues. I normally use tinned, not dried as they are quick and easy. Black beans, baked beans, red kidney beans, chickpeas etc. (You may have different names for some of those).

Sannah, I practice the vegie/vegan habits and I have no issues. I havent tried nuts since my doc said that is a something to be careful of. Refried Beans any beans for that matter no problems as a matter of fact my doc encourages them. I love the Amy burger, Boco and Gardien Items.....they are yummy and lots of Protein. Enjoy what you already eat vegie/vegan. The only thing I'm sort a missing is the bread/pasta/potato type food but I figured that is what got me her to begin with. I hope you find this helpful. Stir fried tofu can be an issue if the outside is very crisp. You'll do better with it if you cut it into smaller pieces. Sometimes it doesn't chew easily and can be difficult to cut up with a fork or chop sticks (usually the only flatware served with tofu dishes I have..in Asia, Vegetarian restaurants).

I can eat nuts and Beans no problem. As noted earlier my big concern would be carbs like potato, bread, Pasta which I have pretty much eliminated. My doctor says 60-90 g of Protein a day. I would add up your protein consumption and see if you could get in that much and stay under 1200 cals.

What do you eat for carbs? I don't like Pasta or potatoes. I guess I am lucky in this respect. Every now and then I crave bread.< /p>

This has been a major concern for me. I have not gotten the surgery yet and just met with the dietitian for the first time. She rolled her eyes when I said I was a vegetarian (lacto/ovo) and told me it was going to be difficult to get 75 grams of Protein per day when I'm down to 4 oz meals. Very discouraging. I left feeling very stressed and concerned that I won't be able to succeed. I can use all of the support out there right now. Struggling to lose the 12 pounds needed for the surgery - when I am stressed, I eat (duh!).

I'm 5 weeks post op and a couple of months into being full vegan, and I haven't had any issues getting my Protein at all! I make myself hemp protein/banana smoothies in the morning, I eat lots of lentils, hummus, other Beans... I can get down a bit of falafel, seitan actually isn't that hard to deal with, I make tofurkey wraps with seasoned tofu fillings (I sell Pampered Chef so I blend the tofu and add their spices), tempeh is the only thing I have had that has been close to giving me a stuck episode, even with plenty of chewing it's just something that makes me very aware of what I've eaten. TVP is fun to experiment with as well - if I'm running late for work I throw some in a tupperware with Water and PC spices (usually the spicy tangerine) and a diced Tomato. Top with some Daiya cheese... nuke it when I get to work, and it's wonderful! Quinoa and rice work well, too. Here's some recipes I've been experimenting with:

I had my surgery May 11th and have had problem getting my Protein in. I eat Beans, gardeins which I love and tons of other thing just as the others have said. Don't worry it hasn't been a problem at all. Docs and others think we need to have the meat and we don't!! I chose not to eat meat for my health not because of animal killing though I don't agree with it. Anyways good luck you will be fine. I'm vegan by the way!!

I only eat fish, so that's a big part of my daily Protein. I mix it up with FF refried Beans, a few pine nuts tossed in my salads, and any FF version of dairy with good protein like cheese, cottage cheese, and yogurt. I'm usually too full to deal with starches, so an occasional bit of potato is a treat but not something I care all that much about. I never eat bread or Pasta (by choice), and I can't stand the taste of those Boca or veggie burgers. *blech* Yes, I have a very boring diet, but I like it that way. B)

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
