Insured By Medicare....completely Confused Help!!!

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if they have had an experiance like this?

I have Medicare and my local bariatric surgeon said medicare requires six month diet. After calling several others in my state that are further away, they said Medicare DOES NOT require this. Medicare themselves have also never stated a time frame. I don't know what to do. I really don't want to have to travel very far to have my surgery, but I am so confused as to why I am getting so many different stories. Can anyone Help?

I really don't know what to tell you to help your situation, but to my knowledge Medicare does not require 6 months. At least the state of Michigan where I reside. Unless there are different rules for different states. Good Luck

I have Medicare and I did not have a 6 month waiting period. I went to the seminar in December 2011 and the surgery less than a month later in January 2012.

I would just politely call it to your surgeon's attention that you've checked into it and don't think Medicare does have a waiting period. See what he says.

I have Medicare also it was not them but the secondary insurance that demanded a 6 month waiting period so if I wanted to pay the 20% on my own they would do it right away. I opted for 100% of my bill paid so I waited.

I had my surgery two weeks ago. Medicare did not require a six month waiting period. Maybe your doctor is actually thinking you could do it without surgery. Good Luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
