Had a fill at the beginning of may. They gave me 2 cc in which I could barely hold down Water. After a week I was finally able to get an unfill but she only took out .5 cc. Afterwards I was able to eat some solids but not much. I'm wondering if I'm still overfilled or if I'm maybe taking too big if bites or not chewing enough. But it's really uncomfortable when I eat. And if I eat chicken even if it's super moist I can only handle a few bites before I feel like I'm going to get sick. It's more of a stuck feeling. Slider foods go down fine but even those I have to eat in small portions or I get sick. I'm no where near 1 cup. I'm more around half a cup of food or even a fourth depending on the food. I also found after this fill I can't eat broccoli and I love broccoli. I have issues with pickles and apples too. I keep hoping that maybe I need to just chew more but I really do try to take small bites and chew a lot when it comes to solids like this. Should I schedule another unfill or just keep trying to eat and be more aware of my chewing habits ?

You may still be a little tight. You are the only one that can be the judge of how tight you are. After my last fill in Jan this year I was tight. I had an over fill last summer and had Fluid removed and I never seemed to have full benefit of my band so this time I decided to tuff it out. I was able to keep liquids down with no problem but I struggled with solids for about 2 weeks. I went back to my orginal post op diet plan and gradully progressed my diet, liquids, mushey, soft than solids. Now that being said, that was my choice I made with out my MD's advice. I had been stuck at the same weight for months and wanted to move so I worked through this. I got my Protein through shakes. This is probably not the healiest way to do this but again it was my choice because I hate fills and unfills. Talk to your doctor if you still are unable to eat next week, try softer Proteins this weekend, fish, add some egg whites to oatmeal (this is my morning stable for breakfast), If you are still unable to eat your solids next week or if unable to get liquids down call your physican. Good luck to you.

One more thing, fibrous vegetables and fruits are not uncommon for bandsters not to be able to eat. Apples and broccoli are both harder to digest. I suggest on the broccoli only eat the florets and cook them a little more than you used to and peep the apple. I also have trouble with fresh asparagus, chicken and anything that is reheated in a microwave.

If you can not eat 3 oz of solid Protein you are too tight. Being too tight can lead to band slipping go back and get a slight unfill.

I can eat 3-4 oz of chicken. Apples and broccoli are totally out for me. I am not tight but only you will know

I recently had a fill on Monday, and spent the better part of the week unable to eat but a bite or two of food before I got stuck. I thought I was taking small bites- but I realized they weren't small enough.

I am now taking bites about the size of my fingernail. As soon as I started doing that, and chewing like crazy, I was able to eat anything I wanted again.

Maybe see if an even smaller bite than you're already taking might help you too?

I think that pickles, apples and broccoli can all be difficult, and I think chicken is very hard for some people too. I agree, try taking smaller bites and chewing even more and see how that goes. If you still can't get more than a few bites down you may need an unfill. Good luck!

If what you describe were happening to me, I'd want to be a bit looser. But as someone said, only you can decide. Are you satisfied with that amount of food? Eating should not be painful.

I am a new bandster, my opinion is just that my opinion. I have not had a fill yet but have restriction already. Im trying to think ahead and put myself in your shoes. I would take into consideration your current weight. Are you near goal? If not maybe you should try to start from scratch with clears, mushies, then solids. Take lil bites, and chew like there is no tomorrow. I would also do a Protein Shake in the am to make sure u are meeting your nutritional needs. As stated before I have not had a fill yet, so my thoughts may be easier said than done. Regardless hope things improve for you!

Well I had Chinese food for lunch. Which is a pretty small portion bc I'm picking around the things I can't eat. I did well with holding down their chicken bc it was cut very very small and their grilled shrimp (3 medium shrimp) I chewed and chewed and everything stayed down and I was very satisfied. Which there is still enough for at least two or three more small meals. I remember when I could eat a full plate in one setting and now it takes me 2-3 meals to eat the same amount. I'm about 80 lbs from goal.

I dunno maybe I wasn't chewing enough or maybe there are foods I just won't be able to eat again bc they are too tough to digest. We are in the process of moving. Hence why I'm eating takeout. I can't eat bread anymore and it is one thing I miss the most. Ty guys for all of your feedback. Maybe I should try different ways to prepare the meat to make it easier to eat and digest. I'm just so used to baking chicken or grilling chicken breast and keeping it super moist. So maybe I should chop or dice it up?

it took me two weeks before i had the ability to eat anything besides Soup and sliders. i think if you persevere and chew well, eat slowly, give it another week, see how you go. its more than two weeks though... do you think you need more removed?

I had the fill on may 9. They removed .5 cc on the 16th. So I'm about a week and half out from the unfill

bread is pretty much off my menu these days, it is just too dense. Same with white meat chicken. I can eat dark meat no problem. The smaller the pieces are cut, the better for me. And the moister the better also.

My opinion, there is nothing wrong with take out, just remember, there is extra fat in some of the choices. So beware of that, but I eat out often. Making 3 meals out of one is something that I do a lot. It sounds like you did pretty well the other day!

I have issues with some fruits & veg, as well as certain Proteins. Try having your bites of Protein the size of a pencil eraser. Take a break of a minute between bites. But if you're still having problems I would go back. Next fill, don't leave the office without being able to drink Water without a problem. I've had to go back in to see the nurse because I was having issues drinking the water right after a fill (and had to take out half the fill right away).

i was having big issues before with chicken breast, fish, and most other protein, right up until about five days ago. last night i had some curried chicken breast, with some broccoli. i cut it up the size of my little fingernail , chewed about fifty times and waited. it went down well. this morning i had one egg with a half slice of wholemeal dry toast. that went down well also. My experience is that the size of the portion and the time spent chewing is well worth the time and effort. ive had one fill of 3ccs, and was having all kinds of difficulties until the last five days.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
