Anyone else sick of food?

Recommended Posts

Before my surgery food was the greatest thing ever....it was my best friend and kept me company when I was unhappy, bored, whatever. (Probably the reason I gained so much weight huh?) Anyway....since my surgery I am sick of food. I rarely crave anything, and I usually end up just eating a snack size cottage cheese whenever I am hungry. When I do cook now I usually make yummy, exotic things, that I would love to eat but can't or shouldn't, and then give it to other people. This is the first time in my life that I haven't been interested in eating food. Anyone else feeling this way?

I wish I was sick of food. I still think about it with loving admiration. I try not too but as the day goes I think about what I can have, I plan for it, I look forward to it etc.

I'm not filled yet so I'm sure that's the reason.

One thing I noticed being here on this board is a lot of people seem to still stuggle with making the right choices. Especially if something goes though the band easy like cookie dough or chocolate then it's abused.

I'm scared to death I'm going to be one of those people who just spend 17,500 on a surgery and I still make the wrong choices.

I knew losing wouldn't be easy (never is) but I was under the impression that making the right choices would be easier since I woudln't be as hungrey.

Yours is the first post that gets me excited. I want to be sick of food!

I'm right with you, there are many days that I eat because I have to eat, not because I want anything, and nothing really sounds appealing, not the way it used to.

I dunno if this is an NSV or not....:)

Apryl - I know exactly how you feel. Most days I eat because I know that I have to but I'm rarely ever really hungry. I admit though, there have been a few moments since my surgery that I've craved something. Typically, it's a filet mignon!! Hee hee!!

MMMMM....Filet Mignon....my (old) favorite. I am too chicken to try red meat because I have heard that a lot of people have problems with it getting stuck. Every time my husband makes himself a steak I accuse him of trying to torture me.

Ok...maybe I am not sick of food after all....maybe it's lap-band freindly food that I am sick of! Ha ha ha!

LOL...I can honestly say that I haven't had a problem eating filet mignon. As long as I take small bites and chew them very well, I'm good to go. I hope you decide to try it. At least you'll know whether or not you can tolerate it. Good luck!! :)

Don't be so afraid of red meat. I can honestly say that I have pb'd on chicken more than I ever have with a piece of red meat. Just chew it well and enjoy. For me the band is a tool that helps me modify the amount that I eat, not forbid me from eating the things I enjoy. That being said there are a few things that my band doesn't tolerate on some days, I guess it is moody, just like me, he, heeeee.....

And yes, food does not rule my life anymore, now going out to dinner is more about enjoyment of the company I am with and tasting and savoring of good food, where before it was so focused on food and food and more food.

I am WAY jealous... that would be the biggest NSV I would ever be able to think of! Even when I had a fill I still felt hunger and still had cravings... then again... I was rarely able to make it past a 1.5cc fill without having problems and the highest fill I ever had was 2ccs.

I typically don't crave anything. I know I can handle a bite or two of anything I want and that always takes the craving away.

I've only been banded for about 6 months, I've noticed I go through phases as far as food goes. There are times I could care less, but when I am interested in food, it's not the same as it was before. I can't stand to be full, I hate the feeling so I always stop when I am just satisfied.

I have also found that I don't 'crave' any food. I will have a brief thought of a certain food, remember how it taste, and then it goes away. (I mainly have this happen as I pass the DQ and think of a Blizzard..) I also no longer have that "I feel like I am starving" feeling..and have to remind myself to eat at times. So far I have been able to eat whatever I decide I want, no PBing, but did slime on Peanut Butter, when I sallowed it to soon, so that I could answer the phone....Wrong thing to do....

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
