The Band And Periods?

I am two months out (3 weeks pre-op/5 weeks post). I was wondering if anyone's periods were messed up bc of the change in diet, etc. I am cramping so so bad, but no period other than spotting. Is this normal? I hate to go to dr if this will resolve on it's own.

My periods were fine but my doctor said not uncommon for periods to be messed up for a few months following surgery.

Hi

Well I missed 2 full months and have been all over the place going from 28 day to 42 day cycle. I had a meeting with my doc and all is fine only MY WEIGHT IS GOING UP SLIGHTLY CAN'T SEEM TO LOOSE ANY.

I had issues with mine and I just was banded less then a month ago. I felt like my band was to tight and was very uncomfortable. I called my doctor he told me my hormones were out of whack and to take it easy. The first day was rough, but after that I was fine. Some say it is due to less calories and body weight dropping. My body was/is confused.

No period for me either banded 4/6/ if i don't see one next month I will go to Dr but now enjoying het absence :-)

Mine were horrid! The first one was late, and then I was an emotional wreck for the next one. I had really bad cramping before though (I'd dream I was in labor the night before it started), and didn't notice a different in cramps until this past one. The cramps were less, and there was no PMS this time around, and I am grateful for that.

Keep in mind I was banded at 40. My periods were heavy and I went from being every 28 days to every 21 days sometimes less. 5 months post op I had two periods in one month. I have been taking 65 mg iron to deal with anemia.

The second month after surgery I barely had one...they were light for a few months....but now they ate more than my typical two or three days. Sometimes they are four days and heavier!!!!ugh oh well worth it all.

glad you brought this up. I have fibroids( very small), but my periods are not typically heavy. I was banded on 4-18. On 4-27, the DAM BROKE! I think this was partly due to me getting off of the Nuvaring the month before per my surgeon. my periods are usually 5 days long. im interested to see what happens now.

I had mine a week and a half after my surgery and mine was incredibly heavy. I didn't have any cramps at all and it was several days early.

This EXACTLY what happened to me.

I have to stop taking the pill before surgery. I'm assuming my cycle will be a little crazy for the next couple of months...not looking forward to that! Does anyone know how soon we can go back on the pill again after surgery? I'll have to ask my doc.

My doc didn't have me stop at all. I even took my pill the day of my surgery (after I was discharged) per my surgeon.

I was banded 3/27 and I have the Mirena .. had it 3 yrs no period... then 4/24 i got a heavy period that lasted for over 2 weeks.. I was like .. really??? course its the same date as my wedding next month in june.. so I'm hoping it was just a one time thing.. if it happens again this month.. im gonna talk to my Gyn dr. My lapband dr told me that with hormones and drop of weight.. 47 pounds for me.. kinda triggered something.. lol i guess we will see this month... good luck to everyone :)

Well here is my story i didnt receive a period for 2 months i was so mad because i wanted to have the mirena in place before my surgery. I had pregnancy test done several of times and they all came back negative. So i decided to take provera almost three weeks before surgery. after taking provera i still didnt get a period. I had my surgery on 4/25/12 i got my period the next day. I felt like someone gutted me open. my period ended one day after my first doctor visit which was 5/03/12. When i weighed in it showed i lost 8lbs when i know i lost more than that. Could it be that i was bloaded thats why it didnt show as much weight loss.
