Unfil Today... Doc Discourages Me To Get Refilled...

Recommended Posts

So today I had an unfil of 1.5 ml because I am having plastic surgery on Thursday. I am now 164 lbs, down 120 lbs, in 13 months... which is only 14 lbs from my goal. After the unfil I said to my doc "I'll prob see u in a month or two to get tightened back up" his response was "If your maintaining I don't want you to get refilled. You've lost more than most people ever loose with the band and the rest should just be done with exercise" . This kind of frustrates me. I am so close to goal and am loosing at such a great pace with my band where is was. I just don't know what to think about this

I would agree with your dr. Try to lose those 14 lbs on your own. It's been three months since I've had surgery and I have not had a fill. I think I really learned some good eating habits through this process and I am successfully losing weight right now so I don't need a feel.

Rely on those habits you have learned on the past year and you can probably drop those last 14 on your own. At least give it a shot.

I agree with Miss Meow. You've done extraordinary well and 14 lbs. to goal is nothing. As long as you eat the proper foods and rely on what you've learned and alittle bit of exercise, you'll do fine.

In my case, I must keep a lose band due to severe allergies and drainage, otherwise I wake up from my sleep chocking, so, I must rely more on my eating knowlege and proper diet.

In my opinion and only my opinion I feel that initially we should keep a tight band while we lose the bulk of our weight. I sometimes wonder if keeping a tight band for a longer period of time is one of the reasons why some have stomach/band erosions. Who knows. As I said, just my opinion.

Now, you can really use the band as a tool that keeps you from eating large volumes, but the rest is up to you. Good luck to you, you can do it. Jake

Your band your right to have a fill. You will find out soon the difference between a filled Band and an unfilled Band it is called “ hunger” followed by “weight gain”. You need the Band to help you keep the weight off. Congratulations on your results very very good! You should be so proud of yourself! That's why you were so sucessful cause you know what to do.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
