Would sneezing casue slippage??

Recommended Posts

Hi all  :P

I just got my mid-band 6 days ago in France with Dr. Frering:clap2: , so finally I'm a bandster:scared:

++++I have few very important questions++++

In the past 3 days I got the worst sinus/cold you can ever imagine..

I've been sneezing a lot, and everytime I do, my port HURTS a lot,

is that noraml? (keep in mind I only got my band 6 days ago)

The other question, I was given a very big antibiotic pill for the sinus, so I had to crush it and sollow it, but in that process, I vomited real hard

(only one push or hit or PB), that I felt my port jumped out of my

stomach with soooooooo much pain in its area... Is that normal? do u

think I might get the port mis-located with the sneezing and

vmoiting? or i might already slip my band??

Sorry for this weird question and symptoms, but you are my savior

guys...

Thanks a lot guys,:D

Sorry Magic this is off topic, but what did you pay for your surgery in France? I live in Portugal and it runs 10,000 here, If it's cheaper in france, maybe thats an option.

Thanks Betje, I'm a proud mid-bander today:clap2:

Kat: Thats is no problem at all, I paid for it 6500 e. And that includes everything, the 2 days sleep at the hospital, the endoscopy and the operation

And I have say that I think Dr. Frering is one of BEST in the world, if not the best. He had done more than 4500 opretaion. God, the day I went for surgury there were 10 other people just like me (getting the band). So he is very experinced, and I hear that other sugeons just wish to practice with him, meaning, I was reading on the net and some surgueon uses this piece of info in their CV (worked under Dr. Frering in France)

Thanks god, I'm very happy for choosing him, please let me know if you need any more info:)

Hi Magic -

Congrats on your band!

At this point it is likely that the pain you're feeling is simply because you are so recently out of surgery.

However, violent sneezing, coughing, and/or vomiting can cause slippage, and I suppose under the right circumstances could disrupt your port as well.

Not that I think you should be worried at this point, but if you end up with unusual pains that don't go away, or things seem "different" and don't resolve, or if you suddenly cannot keep down liquids then a call to the doc is definitely in order.

While these things can cause problems, it seems that mostly the band isn't quite that delicate. So while it's possible, chances are everything is okay. You just have to be as careful as possible, and keep close tabs on how you're feeling just in case.

Feel better!!

"However, violent sneezing, coughing, and/or vomiting can cause slippage, and I suppose under the right circumstances could disrupt your port as well."

According to my surgeon, Donali's statement is accurate. Just like we can throw our back out with a bad sneeze, any sharp/sudden movement or trauma could affect the band or port.

When I felt a sneeze, I'd brace my port before, tightening my back and clench my vaginal muscles to avoid popping my port, throwing my back, or tinkling. Old age is too much fun.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
