Hey Everybody.

My Name Is Moses. I am 24, and I reside in NYC. I am 5'8" and 426lbs (30.4 Stone to my European buddies). I am a pre-med student. I am in the consultation process, however under the advice of my PCP (Dr. Linus Yoe), recommended track due to my high weight. I tried pretty much all the dieting stuff out there (Atkins, Weight Watchers, Vegan, No Carb, VLCD, etc) and lots of Weight Loss Pills( Hydroxycut, HCG Drops/Injections, TrimSpa, etc.). It doesn't work. Its obvious that my weight is dangerously high.

I am currently speaking to Dr. Javier Andrade, of the New York Bariatric Group, and he seems to me, like an awesome individual, and talented doctor.

I can't wait till I get this done..............................

Welcome Moses! It's quite the adventure. I started March 7th with the seminar. I'm going through a program in Vancouver, WA (very close to where I live) and am at the very tail end, my next step is to meet the surgeon next week then schedule surgery. Like you, I've tried so many different things, and I'm not one that accepts failure...I keep trying until I succeed. I'm confident this will be my final step to success. I tell you, this website is awesome! I am on here almost daily, it's a great place to find answers and also support.

Pre-Med huh? Stressful!! What a success story you will be for your future patients though! What area of medicine are you going in to?

Welcome! I too am starting my journey. I am scheduled for the proceedure in 3 weeks. I have learned alot on this site from people posting. There can be some negativity, however, I see more success than negative.

I am excited for your journey. I am also excited that you may be a Dr that will understand what your patients are going through if they are over weight. You know there are so many Drs that dont get it and think we dont care about our condition. If they really understood, they would see that it consumes most of our thoughts!

Best wishes! Maybe you will find the cure for obesity :)

@ Jenn,

Hell Yes, Pre Med is tough. Its gonna get tougher if I decide to attend LASM Havana for Med School. I need to lose the weight, and gain a new sense of health. Hopefully, I can pass the wisdom I gain to my future patients. Thanks for the wishes.

@ Amanda,

I am never scared of asking questions, or sharing my hesitations. You will be the first to know, dear. Wink Wink.

@KBliss,

I agree. A lot of doctors don't have the compassion that fits the scope of practice. Believe it or not, there are going to be alot of changes in the field, soon to come.....I am actually piling up in Languages, and Humanities courses, as well as the typical science requirements for Med School. Hopefully, I'll pass this along to all my patients....

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
