Nothing, because it's none of their business. You've made the conscious decision to withhold that information from them for whatever reason just like many of us have. If they ask, just tell them Portion Control and exercise. Lapband provides slower weight loss than other methods of WLS generally, so this explanation is very believable.

why would you not want them to know? They are going to notice the eating change, I say tell the truth

I've just told my coworkers, that I'm watching what I eat and exercising. Which is actually the 100% truth. Since I barely have any fill, nor do I want any.

I agree with SouthernBelle. I have only told 2 of my coworkers and the rest I don't care what they think. I pack my lunch 4 days a week and no one really pays attention to what you are eating.

If she says she is watching what she eats and is exercising, that is telling the truth. There are many, many reasons why a person wouldn't want to tell and there's no reason you should feel like you have to.

I don't know what your starting weight is, but mine was 333 the day of surgery. Believe me when I say, no one will notice 17 lbs. on such a big person and if they do, it would only be 5 lbs. in their minds. You don't owe any explanations to anyone except maybe to your spouse or children (if you have either).

It's good that you are an advocate for the band. It definitely needs those around. An advocate was the reason why I got one and she promised she wouldn't tell a soul, which she hasn't. Some people just feel comfortable with sharing and others don't. I am totally downplaying the negatives of abortion when I say this, but a woman has the right choose. Abortion may be the best decision for her and it may "save her life", but I seriously doubt if she's announcing it to the world that she had one. BTW I do not believe in abortion.

My starting weight was 216 and I'm down 23 pounds in two and half months and I haven't had a single comment except from my family that know about the band. My clothes are practically hanging off of me and no one I work with has even noticed yet!

I went back and forth with wether or not to tell my co workers. I thought about it at first, I didn't think it was anyones right to know, but the way I figured it. It wasn't like I was able to hide the fact that I was fat, and my co workers were professional, respectful, everything you would expect before I got the LB, so why wouldn't they be happy that I decided to do something to become more healthy and loose weight? So far I've had nothing but support, and those "I have a friend who has the LB, or I know someone who has the LB". But it is a personal choice.

Let me say I completely respect peoples decision to keep the surgery a secret even though I don't get it myself. Of all the comments I am more intrigues me is Jess55 who stated she has hardly any fill & doesn't want any! I realize there is a very small percentage of Lap Band patients who never need a fill & I also realize there are Lap Band patients who take it to the opposite extreme and turn it into a strangulation device. However, I hope you know that you may in fact need fills along your journey and they are not something to be viewed negatively.

It's a personal choice. I've only shared with close family and close friends. When other people ask I simply say I have chosen to watch what I eat and I exercise...which are both true.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
