Hi everyone! As I posted before my surgery is may 11 and I am really struggling with my preop diet (protein shakes and a few veggies ONLY) although it's been so difficult and I'm on day 7 of my preop diet..I HAVE LOST 10lbs!!!!! In one week!! :) so happy!! Whenever I'm starving I just remember my dedication to following the rules and the success is shown on the scale!!! Im hoping for another 5-10lbs this week before my surgery! Anyone else have success like this on the 2week preop diet??!

Welcome! Everyone on the pre op diet, glad to hear its going well! Take it a day at a time. :)

SupportRO - WOW 10lbs is a great!! Congrats. I weighed myself on my 4th day and I had lost 7lbs. Starting day 5 of liquids now.

Ryan - Sounds like you had to jump through hoops to get here. Be proud of yourself.

Buffalogyrl - I know it's hard right now and the negative thoughts are clouding out the positive. I'm having many of the same thoughts, especially at night. "will I ever be able to enjoy food again?", "will I ever be able to go to a restaurant with friends and eat like a normal person?" the list goes on. I was eating at restaurants and takeout literally EVERY day before this (huge reason I got to this weight). It was my life. My friends and i love to eat so this is a big concern of mine. If you look at the success stories and post op here, the answer is YES you will be able to do those things again... Just not the way you did before because that is what got people like us to where we are. It will become more about enjoying your friends company than eating a large amount. As for pre-op diet, yes it really, really sucks. But at least you get to eat food right? Most only get liquids. I have to stay 1 night at the hospital too and I'm kinda looking forward to being taken care of. lol. Make a list of why you want to lose weight and look over it when you feel low. Emotional moments and self doubt are normal at a time like this. Chin up, you can and you will do this!!!

- Natalie

My surgery is May 11 also. :)

I've been on my pre-op diet since April 28 and I've lost 13 pounds so far. I made it through Secretaries Week when they had a big Breakfast on Monday, ice cream sundaes on Thursday and pizza on Friday.

We can do this! Let's roll!

Hi everyone. I am banded. I have 7 ccs on a 10 cc band.

It wasn't as bad as I thought. Some soreness in the port area. When they ask you about your pain and nausea be truthful. They will make you comfortable and you definitely don't want to be in pain. It will speed your recovery. I will post more later.

Just want to clarify my previous post. I did not partake of the Breakfast, ice cream or pizza - I faithfully stayed on my pre-op diet.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
