I have a question. I know bread is a no-no cause it has the potential for getting stuck' date=' but what about crackers? Like Ritz, Wheat Thins, Triscuit, etc.? Does anybody know?[/quote']

My nutritionist told me crackers were fine. She said even crunchy toast is ok. I would just check with your nutritionist.

Officially banded :) except from the gax pain (that is bearable)' date=' I am enjoying my liquid meals (apple juice and black tea). :P

Water is the desert :o

I am so glad things went well! Get plenty of rest. I suppose you're not craving food much at this point?

Hang in there everyone. Day 3 was the hardest for me too but it will get a little easier. I am starting day 6 and so far so good.

Only thing is, I still can't go #2... Even though I feel like I need to constantly. When I try nothing is coming out. My nurse said Colace was ok to take, but it hasn't kicked in at all and I took it yesterday. I just wish I could take a laxative. UGHHH. That's my only frustration. If its like this after the band, I don't know what I'll do. :/

Are you getting all your Water in? That has helped me considerably! 64 oz. a day or 4 oz. every hour that you're awake.

Thanks! I have been keeping a glass of Water with me all day, sipping on it constantly and it seems to be helping.

Your reply really lifted my spirits Deb. You're right. I am glad it's not just me that is feeling emotional and overwhelmed by this. I will be fine one minute then ready to scream or cry a minute later. lol! I talked to the bariatric nurse today and she said day 3 and 4 are hardest for everyone. But like you said, it took years to get this way and change won't happen overnight. This will all be worth it in the end. WHat is your surgery date? I am a week away.

Once I started liquids I assumed I couldn't do Vitamins. However, just got off the phone with the dietician after seeing your post and she said I can take my Multivitamin and Vitamin d. woohoo!

Two weeks from now I will be there to remind you of all the things you told me. we just gotta hang in there.

Oh Natalie..

I am just getting around to reading the posts. Can you BELIEVE that? My week has been so hectic and I have kinda been in a bit of a frump. Last week I started working out on my Nordic Track even tho it was just little bits at a time (15 minutes), that was all this that old body could take. But I also stated the three shakes a day and just Water and Vitamins with it. I lost 13 lbs last week..then it stopped :( I got my Period on saturday and it was the worst one ever and I still just had my shakes, Vitamins, water and LOTS of Tylenol!! and know what, lost 2 pounds so far this week. I am so disappointed so now I have stepped it up. I did a full walk on the incline tred mill and lasted a whole 30 minutes in one shot last night! a miracle for me at 460 lbs, but I did it. I was so proud and sweat a whole bunch and thought to my self, sweat = burned calories = lost weight. This morning I was down .5 of a lb. I hear that people get stuck but there is no way I will have the extra 20 somthing lbs gone for the surgery. I feel so blah now cause I stand the chance that I wont get mine done in May. I dont know what else to do. I cant stop eating anymore and I am doing my walking every morning and during the day in small bits. I walk around the warehouse and around the parking lot and walk around the building to go to the mailbox and everywhere I can get in an extra step. Now Ive added the 30 minuites at night. lets see if that will get my game going again but I feel so defeated. Surely I cant have plateaued at this point.

Anyways, enough of my belly aching. I will stay in the May banders group unitl /if they tell me that I have to wait longer.

Congrats to all of those who have been banded already!! It is very exciting to see that people even feel like coming to post after surgery. I got myself so pumped up for this..I just cant wait!! Cant wait to see who posts next and I will keep everyone in my prayers that we all do fine and recover FAST!

HAs anyone found a good remedy for the Constipation?

WoW! That's awesome. I am on Day 4 also. Maybe I need to get on the scale for a little motivation.

Hi Everyone, I finally got my date of May 21st. I'm so excited and nervous. I don't think it has really sunk in yet. I don't have to do a pre-op diet, except for liquids the day before. I think I am going to start something on my own though, maybe a shake for Breakfast, just to get me in the habit and so it's not such a shock after surgery.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
