Judy - I guess they take swabs of your stomach enzymes when you get your EGD and test you. I was all set to go and 7 days before my surgery they must have gotten the results back and told me that I have this stomach infection that has inflamed my stomach. I had absolutely no symptoms. It is called H. Pylori and apparently you can get it in child hood and have it your whole life and not even realize it. Some people it never affects while others it can cause ulcers and maybe stomach cancer if left untreated. So Crazy. I did spend sometime in a small town in Mexico when I was a toddler and again when I was 11 at my grandmothers house. Maybe that's when I got it. But I have read on here that apparently there are others that this infection was found in their EGD as well.

oh yes,ive heard of this one. in fact the cure for it was found in Australia i believe. its helibactor pylorie..?? is that right?? and we all have a certain amount of it but some people have thousands more than normal. i think thats the way it goes. so you had it?/ and they gave you antibiotics for it?/ how long is the treatment for?..

For me my last supper was on last night which was a Grilled chicken Ranch BLT, Fries and a Sprite from McDonald's. Remind you that is the first soda I have had in about two years. So today, I am actually going to start my preop diet two days early but the hard part of no meat is going to kill me but I am going to do it and not worry about it.

Please let me say that you all have been a tremendous blessing to me over the last month. I thank you so much and just want and pray for the same success and blessings for you. Off to a Protein Shake and orange.

..and the best of luck to you as well.. my surgery is on thursday at 3pm

Yes that is what they called it. It is a 14 day treatment. It is usually a treatment of pepto type meds and penicillin...but I am allergic to penicillin so the CDC only has one cure regiment without penicillin and it take 4 different meds. Cost a little over $100 and one of the meds can't be found at any pharmacy a compound pharmacy has to make it for me. So bummed...but at least getting it taken care of.

Get focused woman! You have 2 weeks to get your body ready for a major surgery! Dont mess with that! Get your liver ready for the doc to fold over... You will have a better recovery for it. Donuts are full of sugar and chemicals and pizza is crap unless it's made with lots of veggies and you only eat 1 piece! Think of the pre-op as an adventure and enjoy it. We are only talking 2 weeks. Im april 2 as well. Enjoying my last manhatten tonight!!! : )

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
