Recommended Posts

Hi all! I am 2 weeks post op. I had the lapband. I have lost 18 lbs so far. I am finding it harder though to try and stay on track with my boyfriend around. Any advice?

Get rid of your boyfriend?

LOL , only joking.

The reality is there are always going to be other people around that have not had the surgery/don't need to lose weight/don't care if what they eat is healthy or not etc. A big part of living with the band is finding ways to deal with this and stick with your program. You are doing this for you so you have to remember what your needs are. Don't let others sabotage your new healthy eating way of life.

Haha that is an option. lol jk

Yeah, I know there is always going to be someone. We live together so it definitely makes it hard. Especially because he doesn't care about what he eats. It's getting easier but it is definitely going to take some time.

What surgery did you have?

Thanks for the advice. BTW

you're doing great! keep it up! Maybe you could convince him to try to be a little more low-carb around the house... That might help you stay away from sweets at least...

@Natasha, Elcee is right!!! I know it is difficult but stay strong, you're only 2 weeks in and it gets so much easier. I still cook for my daughter and my mother is in my home until her house is finished being built. She definitely is not a healthy eater although she needs to be because she is overweight and a diabetic. Actually, she motivates me because I do not want to become diabetic.

Also, most members on this site have had some form of lapband. You will rarely see a gastric bypass patient on here.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
