hi, I have been getting used to Protein shakes for two meals and eating one meal a day. I am trying to transition slowly to the pre-surgery liquid diet. I have been using one cup of a frozen fruit mix with pineapple, mango peach and strawberries with a cup of low cal cranberry sauce and Protein powder. I also eat a banana and one Greek yogurt for a mid-morning & mid afternoon snack. Dinners are low fat and moderate portion.

My question is, I have been getting the worst acid stomach in the evenings! I do not have an ulcer, and no history of heartburn or stomach acid. I thought maybe it could be the pineapple in the fruit mix? But there are only a few little bites in the cup if fruit. Has anyone else had this experience?

I can't have fruit on my pre-op but I do use vanilla Protein Powder mixed with sf orange Jello for a great dream cicle shake or mix it with any other sf jello

be sure to mention this to your doc, maybe a hiatal hernia. so many of us had one. if yes, they take care of it with your surgery. you do not want to have heartburn after your surgery.

This morning I used the "mixed" fruit again, and I could immediately taste the acid from the pineapple - I now know the culprit for sure! I will steer clear of that!

My guess is they were referring to Jello powder not a prepared Jello. Pre and post op I added fat/sugar free pudding powder to my shakes to improve the flavor.

Also I made "ice cubes" out of sugar free fruit flavored selzer. I would add that to the shake which gave more of a frappe consistancy. Hamilton Beach Individual Serving Blender worked great on the ice ($15 at Walmart/Target); it uses a travel mug as a mixing container. Super convenient.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
