Glad to hear you are doing well, almost 2 weeks out and still tired. Starting to think its from not having real food, I'm weak. Good luck on your journey.

I was banded this morning and I am so excited. Im not feeling much pain or gas so that is good! Everything went really fast! When I got home and looked into the box my band came in I noticed they included a picture of my stomach with the band. Very cool to have :)

Congrats glad everything went well, I think the picture is cool. I posted mine in my gallery. I also got the card and applied for the permanent one. My doc signed the one he gave me on my post-op visit, awaiting the other in the mail. Congrats on the weight lost so far. Goodluck starting your journey and welcome to the other side.

Went for my post op visit today and every thing is going very well. Although the doctors scale is 4lbs more than mine... uughhh any who.. I was able to start foods today YYAAAYYY. So I have had 2 ounces tuna salad, and 3 orange slices for lunch, and 2 ounces of talpia and 1 once of cabbage. So far things are good. And I am happy that I can actually chew something. I get my first fill April 5th so another milestone to look forward to. Back to work tomorrow for me uugghh. But only one day then the weekend. March bansters we are moving along.... :)

I'm nervous about my date on 3/20/12. What has everyone done to prep for this? I'm excited to start taking the steps into a new healthy life. I have a 1 year-old and I want to be around for him and active in his life. I'm sooo grateful to have found this site, it makes me feel like I have so much support and that I will accomplish this!

I too will be banded on 3/20! I started my one week liquid diet on Tuesday.......I did find Tuesday and Wednesday, but am pretty hungry today! I had my EGD done yesterday and everything was fine, except a small 1 mm hiatal hernia. Will decide if it needs to be fixed when he gets in there. What are you doing to prep?

Paula- if you make the Jello yourself you can add Protein Powder to it. It tastes good.

What do you use plain Protein?

On the scales topic, I weighed 3/13. The next day was when I started mushies so I wanted to see if that affected my weight. That day I was Day 5 and I was down 12 pounds. I bought my first smaller size today :) I actually could wear walmart's pajamas. I bought a size 18-20 (2x) and I haven't been able to wear them forever. Before the surgery, If I stretched really hard I could fit into a 3x.

New me 2012.

I went for my post op today too. I had to wait two weeks. I was banded march 1. I got in a little trouble cause I've been trying solids. Really chewing them. Doc told me not to test the band. He said he left a little Fluid in there. Not sure if that's true cause I don't know if we have any restriction just cause we have a band. I felt some the other day when I tried to eat eggs. Had a few bites and I had to throw them out. But everything I read says people feel restriction but it isnt real. Oh well it feels real to me. Let me live in my world. Haha. Hope you are doing well

My Dr told me that he would leave some fluid in the band but not a lot. I don't know if its just me or what but I feel stuffed after a couple bites. I will have to remember to eat dinner b/c I will still feel full from lunch. I wonder if I am suppose to be keeping a food journal for my 2 wk appt? Maybe I will just in case b/c they aren't overly friendly.

Yes, I did it will pass, keep using the incentive spirometry it helped me a lot. I was glad when it was over, uncomfortable not being able to breath like you use too. I was scared but I called my sister in law who is banded and she had the same feelings. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
