  1. Ughhhhh...Happens to me almost every time too!!! At times it really is horrific! It completely bums me out. And then I get the constant questions from friends and family wondering if I'm okay. And guess what?! I can't answer you at the moment!!! Lol But they don't get it, and I know they're only concerned cuz they think I'm in pain or may be on the verge of throwing up. I thought something may be wrong but I'm glad to see that it actually is pretty normal. I definitely think the air thing may be my culprit. I'm going to try to sip on something before to see if that realizes that. Thanks for that tip! And good luck everyone. I know it's no fun when it happens.
  2. That is spectacular!!!!!! Any helpful tips?! I was banded on 4/23 and have lost 40 lbs. Definitely need some more momentum and tips. Wish I were losing a bit more, faster. Although, my last fill, that occurred last Monday, has significantly tightened me. 6ccs in 10 now.
  3. The process was pretty smooth for me as well. Went to the seminar and my appt was about two weeks later. Dr. Schwack was ready whenever I was to book my surgery. Unfortunately I had to wait b/c my ins (UHC) had an annoying 6 months diet supervision I had to submit myself thru first. And then I figured I'd just wait till after the holidays. I ended up switching to Oxford ins b/c it had no patient out of pocket responsibilities. Unlike UHC which had a 20% responsibilities. However, having become eff. 1/1/12 the Oxford required 60 days on the policy b4 they'd approve it...Which led me into March. But believe me the time flew anyway. N it was way worth it to wait a few months and have it fully covered. Surgery was a success. Was the first patient and was good to leave around 6pm the same day. The staff is really nice at NYU. My nutrionist is also Despina and I too haven't taken full advantage of her services. I was getting my fills done with Nurse Frank but now that I'm no longer post-op I've have to have them done by Dr. Schwack or Laura (which I haven't met) also. So far everything has been great and I really trust and am happy with NYU. Good luck!!!
  4. I had my band done at NYU with Dr. Schwack on March 23rd. What are your questions??? Hopefully, I can answer some of them for you. I'm still a newbie myself.
  5. This post may be a lil TMI...Be warned... I was banded on March 23rd and started working out a month after. Mostly elliptical n treadmill. The other day I tried this elliptical type 'climber/stepper', it did feel very intense but I pushed through. All of a sudden I had shooting stomach pains! I got so freaking cuz I've read about people's ports flipping n stuff on here. Anywho, I could hardly continue my work out as I tried to progress to a light jog on the treadmill after. I had to SPEEDRACE home b/c I thought I wouldn't make it on time. Tonight since the weather was nice in NY, my bf n I decided to go play basketball in the park. All was going well till about 45 mins in. Again I pushed through and lasted an hour. N then I thought I would go (sorry) in my pants. =\\\ Luckily, that was not the case. I had my second fill on Monday, so I know my port is in tact, in and place for that matter. Is this due to the band. Is our metabolism or something sudden revved up???? Anyone go thru anything like this??? It's highly annoying!
  6. Well, it seems her reaction was one of ease. So that's a good thing. I'm just surprised something like a rollercoaster ride could do something line this. My doctor assured he has NFL players as patients n they have had success with no issues. Find that hard to believe now. Lol
  7. Oh, no! This sounds pretty scary! What was the doctor's reaction???? They didn't immediately suggest a way to correct it??? Good luck! Hope it is easily remedied!!!
  8. Great topic!!! The kind I so desperately needed to see!!! Thanks for all the great ideas!!!!
  9. Amazing job taysidebell!!! Especially with the weight loss PRIOR to the surgery! U should be very pleased! =}
  10. I did something similar...My surgical coordinator n I build a very friendly relationship with all the emails we had to send eachother over paperwork. On Monday when I went in for my post-op I gave the receptionist a thank you card with a Starbucks card in it to give the coordinator for me. I also sent the doctor n staff a thank you card n had an order of edible arrangements delivered to them. The coordinator reached out to me n couldn't have been more happy and appreciative. It made me feel so positive to do that for them as they have already done so much for me.
