Disapproval From Others.

You know, it was so easy to just start another diet. Because deep down, I knew nothing would change. I wouldnt have to face my fears, my issues, I wouldnt truly change my eating habits, the status quo would remain and my obesity and my eating would fulfil the same (unidentified) needs it always did.

Getting banded - now THAT was hard. Because I knew this was it, everything had to change and for once in my life I really had to face up to what I had become and what I was going to have to do to be what I wanted to be.

It doesnt matter if nobody understands that. Their judgements dont touch me, I dont care personally.

Thanfully, I have not had anyone say something like this to me! Everyone seems very supportive. If they have an opinion, they have kept any hurtful stuff to themselves. I agree, an unfriend would be good! Best wishes to you and all of us struggling with weight issuses! Karen

Wow, Jachut, that is exactly how I felt!! Now, I have done this somewhat drastic thing and I'm not going to fail at it! I can lose slowly, I can have plateaus, but I am not in this to be average. Before, I would gorge and think, "I'll start my diet tomorrow." Now, it's tomorrow and I will make it happen! And that's why, even though it was hard, I was glad for the 6 months it took to do the approval, because I was able to deal with some things and really commit. I know I'm not done with dealing with my issues, but I went into this with my eyes open, knowing it was not a magic bullet (but I have nicknamed my band magic, LOL).

Like my 17 year old says, make your haters your motivators. :)

Haters that are against you bettering your self in ANY way get a check off list of my book- I do not have time for them. I mostly know who they are beforehand, but some times you get surprised. and then you dont have to stand up for yourself or give an explanation- walk away and save yourself the stress of an unwanted comeback. Haters are unhappy folks, and you will not change them. This is your life, and your best decision for self, nobody needs to explain it, unless maybe it is for mom or dad who may fear for you in some way and you just calm them with an explanation.

This is what I call HATERS....when you drop more and post your pictures she will be the main one asking you the details on the bad. Im not banded but when people start asking I am sorry I will only share that I made a lifestyle change and watching my portions of what I am eating. Many people thrive on the cons, lapband is 10x safer than any other surgery. Tell her to do her research and mind her business.

People that haven't researched this always think its easy. They don't knw about fills , the difference between lb and the surgerys for wt loss. And most friends either are jealous and want the surgery, are ignorant to lb or they are afraid that you will change and they will loose you

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
