How To Become Successful With Lapband

I am supposed to be banded in March and I have taken my nutrition classes of course. For those who have already been banded I want to know what steps did you take to make sure the weight stays off. Also I wanted to know how much weight did you lose in your first month after being banded.

I'm getting banded tomorrow and would love to know the same! :)

I lost 16lbs in the first month after banding but everyone is different, we all lose at different rates so would be hard to make a definitive sort of response. A lot of people dont lose weight at all till they start feeling restriction from fills. My first month was all liquid diet, followed by 1 month mushies then solids after that. I ate a lot of soups, broth and 0% fat greek yoghurt mixed with skimmed milk made into a drink, i did not do protein shakes :)

I am still losing a year post op but have slowed down considerably. Average was 2 to 3lbs a week now its maybe 1 or 2 lbs a week at most .. not far to go now but will continue just eating healthy food and exercising to maintain what i have lost. Some people manage to lose just from eating smaller portions of normal type food u will have to learn what works for you ..

good luck :)

Smaller portions of normal food, lots of running and a lot of headwork centred around lettng go of food rules and the idea of guilt around good and bad foods ( the hardest part for me). Plain, simpke, logical.

I dont know how much Protein i eat, no idea how many grams of carbs or even really calories in a day. When i exercise i go all out.

Banded 1 month, lost 19 lbs. Did WW for my documented weight loss and just stayed on program until surgery. Between WW and banding I am down 60#. Cazzy is spot on and more experienced but I think she is right, depends on exercise, portion control and what you eat.
