You Say The Band Didn't Work

Recommended Posts

@ Brenda62.. I agree 100%. This person had been arguing with so many ppl. But im seeing this negativity all over this sight.

It's obvious she's not happy , actually she seems very angry. But I don't think it's the BANDs fault. I can't see how it can be.

I personally feel sorry for her .but will not let her bring me down .

I don't know for sure, but I think you can place all the negative bandsters into this old wise saying. The definition to insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome each time.

Just my 2 cents

Wouldn't you be unhappy if you paid $15k and thought you were buying a get thin quick machine???

I think that's the real reason why I've seen a few on here come out against the band in the way they have. Maybe they expected to buy the band and get thin without the effort it takes. I know I've researched and researched and read so many posts that to think the band would make your decisions for you is not a good mindset. When I get my band, you bet me I will be counting my calories, eating better foods, and exercising. Otherwise, why waste the money and time??!

Amen! The band does work, as long as you work with it! Im down 92 pounds! Surgery was oct 25 2011. Its the mentality that the band is supposed to do ALL the work and eat what you want....... sad. Great job to all who stick with this lifestyle change. It is truly worth every second.

Yes If I paid $15k-$20K for the band and I ASSUMED it was gonna melt the fat away without any effort of my own and it didnt work.... then yes. I would be pissed off. But the band is a Tool. It helps Portion Control. YOU have to do the rest.

good luck when you get your band. You sound so ready. and I hear ya.. im TRYING to count my cals too and making sure Im getting the right amount of Protein. good luck

Joel .. Wow , your doing super . I cant weight till I start losing more . I will admit, I need to focus more. I keep getting out of my zone. ugh gets frustrating. But I have to do this. I made the choice to get the surgery, now I need to get real serious about the change.

Congrats again, almost 100 lbs wow

In 8 days i will have been banded a year and I LOVE MY BAND .. Everyone here loses weight in a different way and at different rates but what is common to all of us is that we have to change the way or what we eat. Some will manage with smaller portions, some will manage with counting calories some will manage with incresed exercise. What is apparent is that if you start putting on weight and whatever you are doing isnt working something needs to change :)

Thanks 2b. I've lost now 20lbs. Im happy with that so far. Im going for another fill monday so that should help. I am actually a low carber now AND i count my cals. I try to stay between 800-1000 cals daily and get all my Protein in. Somedays r easier than others but i keep trying. Im currently upping my workouts. But i try to "listen" to my tool. When i do that an log my food i do well.

I received one negative response to my first post. However, I want to make the best decision possible for me and am here to learn about much as I possibly can about the pro's and con's of the band. I expected some of the information posted at this site to be negative because some people tend to be pessimistic. With anything, most people have less-than-perfect experiences, and it then becomes a matter of one's perception. Some see the glass half-full, while others see it half-empty. This site is invaluable to me because I have been able to collect a wealth of good information in a relatively short time period. It's fairly easy for newbies like me to differentiate those who are here to help from those who aren't.

And who knows, perhaps the positive majority here will eventually inspire change in those who are stuck in a negative rut.

Gee... I hope you didn't think I was a negative bandster. I was just saying that now that I am banded properly I love my band!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
