  1. Thank you guys, but I'm sure the weight loss is going to slow down a bit. I get to start going to the gym again, so maybe that will help.
  2. Went to the Doctor today, no fill. He wants to wait another 3 weeks and see how my weight loss is progressing. Time will tell, I guess.
  3. KINDA OF A STUPID QUESTION - I'm seeing my surgeon for the first time on Friday and how does he know if I need a fill. I have lost 58 lbs since my 10 day pre surgery diet that started on 12/19/11. I definitely have restriction by the very small portions that I eat. I'm not hungry between meals. I've had a few close calls on "getting stuck" but it hasn't been a problem as long as I slow down and chew properly. Any advice or experiences will be greatly appreciated. Thx
  4. As a former football player and former power lifter, I have always been a large man. It never affected my health until age 35 when I developed high blood pressure. Everything else health wise was always good. Then about 2 months ago, my pcp had to put me on another pill for blood pressure and told me that I was very lucky so far, but the weight was starting to take over. He told me that "I WAS GOING TO DIE A YOUNG MAN" if I didn't change something very soon. He had suggested lap band in the past, but he was pushing it as save your life kind of thing at that point. I had lost 80 lbs a couple of years ago on Atkins, but I couldn't do Atkins forever and had gained it all back plus 15lbs. I scheduled my surgery, insurance denied it (GHP doesn't cover weight loss), and made the choice to go ahead with it. My doctor was trying to scare me and it worked. I'm on my way.

  9. I don't know for sure, but I think you can place all the negative bandsters into this old wise saying. The definition to insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome each time. Just my 2 cents
  10. I had the same thing for about 5 days post op. It finally went away.
  11. If your a self pay in can happen start to finish in 3-4 weeks
  12. Congrats and good luck to you. I wasn't so lucky. The GHP plan that I have doesn't cover any bariatric procedures period. It's nice to know that some insurance companies are still worried about their members.
  13. I was banded on 12/29 and I took vitamins all the way up to 2 days prior to surgery. No problem, but every surgeon is different. Good luck to you
  14. I know the feeling. I was banded 12/29 and I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of the liquids. Sugar free Popsicle and gatorade has helped me through it, but i want some real food. Just a little longer for both of us.....WE CAN DO IT!!

  16. Awesome job keep it up
  17. Welcome and good luck. I'm a newbie as well and I have learned so much in the short time I have been a member here.
  18. I was banded 12/29. I started my 10 day liquid on on the 19th. It wasn't that bad, until the 3 different Christmas dinners I had to attend. All I can say, is that you have to be mentally prepared for it. I got through it (without cheating) but it was tough at times. I'm on liquid for 3 more days, then onto the mushy stage. Good luck to you, if you have anymore questions let me know.
