February Bandsters?

I know there's a special section for this, but it doesn't seem to be too popular so I'll give it a whirl here..

Anyone here to be banded in February besides me?

My surgery date is February 15th.

Feel free to add me on Facebook for support, etc. =]

my heart stopped during surgery and they had to do cpr.....im much better now....just sore

... goodness me.. thats rough. Have you got a history of heart problems?? my b/p is high, so the op does concern me. having the anaesthesia does anyway.

Well Im day 5 of the liquid diet I'm only allowed 1 meal at dinner time which is basically just a lean meat and veggie... let me tell you I can't wait to get home and cook dinner...LOL! I was told this morning to help with the cravings I can have SF Jello and Popsicles but only when I REALLY need it. 7 more days to go... I'm excited I've lost 6lbs on the liquid diet and I'm really looking forward to losing more weight :)

Hi Jenn -

There's another woman getting surgery the same day as me, and he Dr did not make her go on a pre-op diet either... I think it just depends on surgical protocol... also, what about patients that go out of country? I always wondered if they had to go on pre op diet before flying to Mexico....

Good luck to you on your journey!

LIke you,, im wondering about pre op diets. Ive been having about two glasses of red wine a night on average, some nights ive had more. one of the traps id gotten into, it helped me to forget the huge mountain that i had to climb regarding my health and my weight..lol. not funny really though.

im wondering now though about the size of my liver. does anyone know?? can they tell if the liver is enlarged at all by external examination? judych

no but I do have high blood pressure and they had me take my meds not to long before surgery...dont think that was the best idea....I was scared to but it worked out

I am a Feb Banster as well.... I am doing mine on friday the 24th!! i am so excited and nervous!!

Hello to every one on here and Good Luck! I look forward to following all of you on your journey and pics.

Welcome Sophia, I was banded yesterday and feel gret today. I even went to work for a few hours. Good luck to you on Friday. You will do great!

Well got my band on Thursday the 16th. Been feeling ok had more pain those couple days after surgery. Been trying to keep the liquids going and protein shakes along with limited little goodies like fat free and sugar free stuff, no solids and no mushy yet. Its been getting hard i have been getting real hungry and trying to keep that under some control. Wish i could just eat something. I have lost weight but god dam this sucks.

I was banded on the 17th and still on liquids including protein shakes, fat free popsicles, jello, etc. Getting kind of tired of it, but have to do it until March 1 when I have my first post-op appt and nutrition class, then I get mushy stuff. That day can't come too soon. Only one week of that then start on baby bites of real food. I've been going for walks or doing some chore around the house when I have that hunger moment, anything to keep busy.

Big challenge tonight is my son is down visiting for the day (doesn't know about the lapband surgery, just the hiatel hernia part) and my husband and him want to go out to eat. His first suggestion - Marie Callendars - If I could have come through the phone and slapped him I would have! But I did tell him that was really cruel. We we are going to Islands - I guess I'll just sip some sugar free tea while they eat - sucks!!! I guess I could stay home, but that sucks too. I need to get out!

Trying to look at this part of life as just temporary, and the next few weeks as transitional. It's all worth it.

... i hope it all goes well with you next week. judych

Thanks, Judy. I know I will be soooo nervous. But I agree with other posters, that this forum has been such an inspiration and help to me. I am so thankful that everyone has been posting before AND after. It really helps to chat about the whole experience. pre and post banding. I appreciate you all so very much. wub.png

I am so grateful to this forum and all of u for sharing your experiences and for the encouraging words expressed. I will post my experience for the future bandsters. yeah it does suck till you can eat "real" food i was getting the same way at about day 5 just hungry all the time and those shakes just did not cut it for long. At about day 6 I started mushy types food and it did help a lot. Tomorrow is my 2 week and i am trying to eat mainly soups and cottage cheese and small chunks of chicken or ham and just chew well it is so awesome to get full on a small bowl of wendy's chili and feel satisfied.

Hello February Bandsters! Congrats to all who have already had surgery and good luck to those that have it coming up. I am getting pretty excited out surgery ... Monday cant come fast enough. Lots of work this weekend to get all of my supplies and to get my house nice and clean so that I don't have too much to worry about while I am home recovering.

I was super duper happy yesterday when the surgeon said I was down 6 lbs after week one of the Pre-Op diet even though I cheated over the weekend and renewed my motivation to do great this weekend. I am shooting for another 6 this week ... unlikely but a girl can dream.

Anyways, that was my little tidbit for the day!! :)

I love your enthusiasum!!!! I am so excited and a little scared mine is FRIDAY!!! But i am ready for a change....on the diet this week and am down 7lbs!! Good luck!

..thats good. i must talk with my specialist about my meds as well.. but i suppose he will ask me anyway. apart from vitamins etc i dont take any other meds so thats good. i reckon you were scared. my b/p goes way up in those situations.

I am getting excited about monday! I have been reading and reading everyone's posts. I almost called off the surgery. I was going back and forth with myself. My skinny husband said he would support anything I decide. I went back to my pro/cons list. I am now 100% feeling great! And monday can't get here fast enough!

I was only going to tell my husband, parents, and one friend (who is watching my small children while i am at the hospital). But I decided to tell everyone! i am so surprised all the positive things I have heard!

I finally told my daughters yesterday. They are only 3 & 5. But I explained I was having surgery on my belly and that daddy would be the one to help them for a few days while I recovered. I never told them what the surgery is for. But I asked if they had any questions...only question I got was from my 5 y/o..."will you still be able to dance the black eyed peas experience with us?" The things that are important to them! I said of course! After I heal! She was ok with that :)

Good luck to everyone and thank you to all that have been writing their stories. I have enjoyed reading them.
