  1. Well not quite 3 weeks since I had my surgery, I do have an appetite but I do realize it is a lot less than what I used to eat. I have been doing some bike riding and this past Sunday I loaded up my mountain bike and hit the mountain trail, the only thing that hurt was my pride from stopping up the hill because i was out of breath. No pain from my incisions on the ride so was happy about that.
  2. yeah it does suck till you can eat "real" food i was getting the same way at about day 5 just hungry all the time and those shakes just did not cut it for long. At about day 6 I started mushy types food and it did help a lot. Tomorrow is my 2 week and i am trying to eat mainly soups and cottage cheese and small chunks of chicken or ham and just chew well it is so awesome to get full on a small bowl of wendy's chili and feel satisfied.
  3. My doctor did not require a pre-op diet either. Thank goodness cause I tried on my own but couldn't hold to it long. Atleast I had my good last big meals right up to the night before surgery and all went well.
  4. Had mine on the 9th and now I am getting hungry! been eating omelets (from ihop) lots of cottage cheese and refried beans I just chew really well. I can eat which makes me happy but I eat a 1/3rd of what I used to eat so glad about that too.
  5. You can buy the children's liquid Tylenol and just use a little more. I went out and bought some before hand but I was also prescribed a liquid Tylenol with codeine so I couldn't take the children's stuff anyways. The doctor gave me 1 refill and I got it but haven't needed it yet.
  6. Good luck on you 2/16 surgery people that was my original date but had it pushed up a week! Been feeling mostly good with the exception that when I went to work on monday I rode with a guy that was sick and I got a little sick. Stomach ache and sore throat not a good thing after surgery! tomorrow is my week anniversary! I moved onto mushy food a day ahead of schedule to calm down the battle that has been in my stomach had about 1-1/2 eggs and wow filled me up!
  7. Good to here you are doing good too! Second day at work today after having surgery on the 9th doing really good except a lot of pressure in my intestines too like there is a battle going on in there. Glad to see someone else had pain in there legs I was thinking that was weird but mine has gone away too so no issue with that. Going to the store now to get some more gas x to see if that helps the stomach it doesn't feel like the band itself but just a combination of the gas and diet. The thing I hate the most is the burps going through the band hoping that is just because of it being new.
  8. I really feel the walking helped a lot for me. oh and i meant 72 hours had it done on 2/9
  9. Woke up an hour ago about to hit my 72 hours since surgery and feeling pretty darn good going to take the dogs for a 1.5 mile walk. Only thing bothering me really is my legs are sore and minor belly discomfort. Woops, meant 72 hours
  10. I used to make my own protein shake with strawberries, spinach, vanilla protein powder and a banana tasted pretty darn good, would use my vita-mix to puree it. Maybe you could try hiding the protein powder in something like that which tastes better.
  11. Well I just hit the 24 hour mark since my surgery at 10:30 and feeling pretty good. Belly is a little sore but mostly my legs hurt from walking too much which is strange since I do walk a lot in general. Finally able to go to the bathroom regularly without just standing there praying to pee i think i went 5 times over the night which was awesome!
  12. I was scheduled out 4 weeks after surgery
  13. I am glad to here you are doing well Debbie! looking forward to a shake tomorrow just on clear stuff today. Will
  14. Sorry to here it has been more than you thought. I walked around the house like crazy yesterday and that helped a lot with any gas. AND OMG the needed to constantly go pee and not being able to was the worst. I had a rough night of sleep last night as i woke up because it felt like i could feel the band pressing down on me, probably need a few nights before that goes away.
  15. I kind of lucked out and was told i did not need to go on a pre-op diet because of where my BMI was at. I did try to do it a few times just to say i can and i failed so i have a lot of respect for you guys on it and keeping too it!
  16. Thanks for the good words myluv2drive. The belly bloating feeling is the worst out of this from the gas the incision pain is soreness but the meds make the pain ok. Been walking around the house as much as i can which is actually a lot.
  17. Just got home an hour ago from my surgery, sore yes but i am up walking around every now and then and sipping on broth.
  18. Same here scheduled tomorrow morning, a little nerves but mainly excitement!
  19. Good luck! mine is thursday morning.
  20. I just read through your blog, good luck things will get better quickly i am sure.
  21. The hiatal hernia was a big find for me because i am a self pay and with that hernia i can have half the costs defered to fixing the hernia.
  22. Just got back from my EGD, everything about ready now. I do have a pretty good Hiatal Hernia that they are going to be fixing too. CANT WAIT TILL THURSDAY!
  23. This is my week for the band I am getting very excited! I have my EGD first thing in the morning, never thought this week would get here. I have still been a bit worried that I was never put on a preop diet but thats what the Doctor said.
  24. At dinner tonight i asked my wife about how she felt before her surgery date a year ago because she really is the biggest crybaby when it comes to pain, its crazy how much of a baby she is to anything litterly screaming or crying over stuff. To sum it up and keep it simple she said that after going out for years with her skinny good looking friends and always being the big one out of her group, and guys always fawning over her friends and ignoring her she was just emotionally ready for this. She was like probably most of us she could go all out crazy and drop 30,40,50 lbs but it always came back. She also has type 1 diabetes so with what she would be forced to eat sometimes for low sugar would always fight against her diets and she would gain again. The past 6 months she had a broken foot and messed up her back and has not been able to exersize at all, normally a person would gain and she continued to lose still that is amazing.
  25. I just got back from fuddruckers and had a 1lb burger and finished it, it was on my bucketlist of food items before i get the band.
