If you have a small leak they can fill you with a small amount of accryllic to stop the leak. Not a Big Deal at all. This was done just as a precautionary method in the event there was a small leak.

I know I had it done, and I have not got a leak.

As far as revision to RNY. No Way Ever !

Everyone that I ever knew is in the Ground !

Last summer I went to a Funeral Parlor, and the poor girl was skin n bones.

This is a Mechanical device that works by maintenance from a Dr...

That is the bottom line, and if your not happy with it, don't complain about it, do something about it.

~if your not happy with it, don't complain about it~

Oh so this "support" forum is not for support if you complain about your band? It's just for ppl that are happy with it?

I don't believe "support" as you call it is cronic complaining ! Who does that help except you ? If you want to pitch a B!tch ! Look in the Mirror, and B!tch ! Makes as much sense as coming on here, and complaining...

BTW I never said people with the Band don't Die ! I have never know one yet though, but I sure knew a lot of women that regained there weight, and died from Kidney Failure, or Malabsorption.

That blame the bandster mentality is extremely tacky! She had a leak! That is NOT her fault! You are deflecting from the issue. It is a BAND FAILEURE NOT A BANDSTER FAILURE!!!

Your blaming the bandsters reminds me off those ppl that blame rape victims for getting raped!

I didn't blame her at all. Read my post again. I said if I sprung a leak I would get it replaced.

The rest of my post was about YOU!

Im likely going to have to unfill my band - again, sigh- as im having surgical scar revision/incisional hernia repair/tummy tuck and the plastic surgeon said why wouldnt you just swap over to a Low profile port while youre at it? So ill check it out with a barium x ray before then, seeing my surgeon next week. If the band needed replacing i would do it again in a heartbeat. Mine has given me six years, and id still rather hav a band. Im already missing enough of my digestive system as it is.

But if it were a necessity, i wouldnt fear the sleeve.

I hope the band lasts for a very long time for me, but if I have to go and have something done to fix it or even replace it, I will. I wonder who has had their original band for the longest on here without having to have some sort of surgical repair or replacement?

Well in all truth, its likely nothing is wrong with mine, they just believe that its settled a bit with the complete unfill. Also, whilst unfilled i lost 20 lb and got extremely thin. I havent regained aLl of that. My surgeon believes that it may be possible that its simply a bit too big for me now. Its an old 9.75cm 4 cc band with 3.8 in it. I have restriction that works, just way less than i previously would have hadvat this fill level.

So id say im fairly long serving at six years and a couple of months. Never had a problem other than having to unfill for a surgery. Lost slowly and steadily and never regained any (other than some of the weight i lost while having cancer treatment) I know Jack has had his even longer but havent seen him here for ages.

If the band had a leak in it then why did the manufacture of the band not pay for the cost of the new band. It was a defect in the product. I have had the same thing happend to me, but I don't want my insurance to have to pay for a defect in the band. It was not my fault, the doctor or the insurance company.

I had my surgery April 13th 2011 5 months and 7 fills later the doctor stated that he thought I had a leak, and needed another flouro to confirm, it was confirmed and Sept 6th I had a port replacement surgery, just for the record, make sure you get your faulty lapband back (as instructed by Allergan) before you leave the hospital, I asked for mine to be returned 5 mins before going into surgery and I was promised by the assisting surgical nurse who is also my doctors pa that does his fills in office, that it would be returned to me, that nooooooooooo way would it be thrown away……. on my first visit post op, I asked where it was and acted like they didn’t know what I was talking about, said they would make a few calls then blamed it on the hospitals for throwing it away. It about screwed me over but I was so lucky that when the hospital did the flouro they just happen to take 4 pictures that was stored in their software that showed the leak, they put it on a dvd for me and that saved my butt, btw the doctor’s office didn’t help in recovering the flouro pics I do xray and I remembered the new machines stored info, so I ran and got a copy before anything else could come up missing, I can’t really go into it (per agreement signed with Allergan) but if you have a leak get your band back and you have less than 90 days to do something

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
