I had my lap band done about 3 years ago, i lost some weight but i have gained it back, even morethan my original weight from when i first got banded. In the past few months i have developed excess hanging fat on both sides of my front private area and on top, it bothers me so much, it feeks as if i have a footbal between my legs.

What can i do about this, it hurts and i am desperate, would this be cosmetic surgery or a seroius medical procedure, please give me advise. I do have insurance and it paid my lapband 100%, i had already met my yearly deductible when i got it done. I am hoping my insurance will cover it since i dont have the money to oay fir cosmetic surgery.

You can usually consult with several plastic surgeons for free. This may or may not be covered by your insurance depending upon your coverage. My insurance had a total wavier for anything related to plastics, regardless of why or what I needed done! I had my first TT done in 2009 due to chronic back pain and it helped emensly. I have no further back issues! I had the same excess skin that hanging down between my legs over my private areas. Call a plastic surgeon and see if they can give you some free advice. You may need some documentation from your PCP stating that it interferes with your mobility or causes you other medical issues. Good Luck!

My insurance also paid for my band 100% and is going to cover the cost of a panniculectomy (removal of excess skin) from my abdomen because of chronic, well documented rashes by my primary care doctor and my dermatologist. I have to pay extra for the cost of the abdominoplasty (where they tighten the muscles) even though I have what is called a rectus diastasis, or a separation in my abdominals, and my "guts" are somewhat exposed beneath the skin. I guess it is common with people who have gained/lost a bunch of weight as well as for pregnant women. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
