Need Lap Band Unfilled But My Doc Can't Get Any Fluid Out!!!! Only Air.

Recommended Posts

Ok so I had my first fill 11/11/11...went home didn't have an issue for the first two days. Monday I couldn't consume any food for like the first half of the day. Then I ate a late lunch and the food felt like it came right back up but just sit in the top of my throat and don't want to come out. This has been happening for the whole week. I went to see my doc and told him about the problem, oh I even develop this dry cough that I never I had before and a crazy mood swing. He told me he was going to take some out because I guess my stomach is sensitive. When he went to take out some of the fill he was unable to find anything but air. He played around with it but nothing. So he went to call my surgeon in the other room to see if he was doing something wrong. Surgeon came in injected me with a new needle and started pushing down on the port....OMG!!! it hurts so bad. He was still not able to take out any liquid. What does this mean. Where did all this Fluid go. All they where able to get out was air. Seriously WTF!!! Now I am moody, hungry but can't eat and have to go do an XRAY and have to wait another week to see the doc. I am pissed off. Has anyone had this issue before?

No, this has not happened to me. This does not sound right at all. Why are they making you wait a week to see your doc? You can't eat anything? That is not going to work for a week. Can you drink Protein Shakes?

Some doctors fill with air, some with Fluid, and sometimes they think they're filling and they miss completely. Since you have a fluroscopy coming up stay on fluids until then to minimize issues and get them to do a dye fill so they can see if your tubing or port has a leak and do a barium swallow to ensure fluids are going down safely after they remove everything or put more in. Your band may have slipped as well - the fluorscopy will show this.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
