Hey Everyone!

I have been lurking the boards for some time now and have finally decided to introduce myself.

My name is Nicole, I'm 35 and I am the mother of 2 wonderful children. I am currently 246lbs and 5'7" tall with a BMI of 40. I decided to have Lap Band surgery because my kids deserve to have a healthy mom. I made the final decision about the proceedure when I turned 35 and immediately got the ball rolling. I made an appointment with my PCP and my surgeon on 10/10 and 10/11. Both appointments went smoothly and I was sent to the Psychologist. She has given me 3 weeks to follow my 1200 calorie diet and journal my daily food intake and mood/feelings.

In addition to my already active days, I have to add regular aerobic activities! LOL! I walk between 5-7 miles a day for work, I stroller skate with my little one, zumba, bellydance and once in a while, I get to practice with my roller derby team! Now, Since I need a regular activity that I can do without any real organization, I will be starting the C25K program!

My next appointment with the Psych is on 11/8 and I'm actually looking forward to it!

My insurance is through my job and the proceedure will be done there as well. Unfortunately, I should've decided to have this done last year, my insurance would've covered it 100%! Now it's only 50! (Thanks contract negotiations!) I have been told, that from your first appointment to surgery is usually about 2 months total!

Well, I guess that's it. I can hardly wait to join you!

Nicole

Hi Nicole,

My insurance required 6 months of weight loss, exercise, and classes. After exactly 6 months I have been able to submit my results to the insurance co. I have already jumped through a lot of hoops for this procedure and I don't have a surgery date yet. I'm praying for a December surgery. I submitted on Thursday 10/27.

I look forward to walking this journey with you,

Gina

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
