When do I need to eat more?

Recommended Posts

Banded 9/22. I am worried I am not eating enough. Yesterday I ate 279 calories. I am just not hungry that much. It's weird...somedays I am other days not so much. I know I can't live off such a small amount of calories. Should I be making myself eat more? I don't wanna get that icky feeling in my stomach (did it a few times...not a good feeling). My goal each day has been to keep my fluids up and eat as I am hungry. How long will this continue though?

You are only 2 weeks post op... you most likely still have some swelling which is making you not hungry. I wouldnt worry about the food portion if you are not hungry, but make sure you are getting your Protein drinks in and your Vitamins and stay hydrated. You will get your appetite back especially prior to your first fill. I wouldnt worry, its a process and everyone is different. If you are really worried, you might want to give your doctor a call and see what he/she says. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I was banded on 9/30 and am constantly "full" even though I haven't eaten anything. I have a post-op appt tomorrow so I'll see what my doc has to say as well.

I was the same as you. Just make sure you stay hydrated and get your Protein in. I was very dizzy for the first couple of weeks because I had such a low amount of calories in my body.

You'll get your apetite back soon.

Don't worry! Your appetite will come back sooner than later. I felt the same way and now I'm nervous because tomorrow is 4 weeks for me and it's that time of the month which I have many cravings and I'm eating my fair share again. Once I hit 3 weeks, my appetite came back with a venegence. LOL..

Hi, I am Post Op day 6 and I swear I'm not eating enough to stay alive. The skim milk makes me fill bloated and I use it o mix my Proteins. I think I am afraid to eat because I don't know if i have gas or am full. I am sticking to the full liquid, but had some mashed potatoes because I was hungry. A few bites and had to stop. Dont want to over do it because im not suppose to have them until Saturday. I can't even do 2 oz most of the time. I am getting enough Water, but slow on the Protein. Getting the Vitamins in though. Is this normal?

I was wondering can I have Tomato basil Soup on Clear Liquids? Tomorrow I go to Thicker liquids. I also feel scared that I'm not drinking enough I get dizzy, and hungry and right now it's hard to tell the difference between being gassy and hungry. I had surgery on 9/30 can't wait to be able to taste mash potatoes. Does anyone get their mashed potatoes from a fast food place like Churches, KFC or Popeyes?

I tried Tomato Soup and couldn't eat it. Tasted like hot Katsup. I opted for Mashed potatoes today two days early because I was hungry (big mistake). I walked and felt like I had to throw up 3 times. Finally after the third time I burped like the Exercist. It finally bought me some relief after 1/2-45 mins of pain.

I wish I had no appetite! I was banded the same day you were and my appetite came back with a vengeance around day 7. I am now on the mushy/soft food stage and feel so much more satisfied since my Protein is coming from FOOD instead of shakes. Going through the full liquid stage while my body was screaming FEED ME was not fun! I have talked to several people who did not regain their appetite for 3 or 4 weeks though. My surgeon does not fill the band at all during surgery so if yours put some in when he banded you maybe that is causing it? I will say that my activity level has been pretty high for the last week or so and that is probably contributing to my appetite.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
