I just started my pre op shakes too (Sunday). I now notice ALL the food commercials and although I am not hungry I want to eat my TV.

I am also in the bathroom none stop - this is horrible - but it is nice to know that I am not alone. I wonder if it is going to be like this till the surgery.

As for the shakes, I have been blending them with everything under the sun trying to keep it fresh and new, but I can so see this getting old really fast.

good luck to you and if you figure out how to yourself out of the bathroom as much please share.

What pre-op diet are you on? Mine is the following:

Beginning at 7:30 am I have a Protein Bar or shake, every three hours after have a Protein Bar or shake, at 7:30 pm I have a healthy TV dinner (you can have the healthy TV dinner for Breakfast or lunch if you want), do not exceed 1100 calories per day, get at least 60 grams Protein per day, no caffeine, no sugar

I have been using the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Protein Shakes and Bars and they are really good. I have been having the healthy meal at 7:30 pm because it helps to fill me up and not be hungry for bed. I have not had any unusual trips to the bathroom so far, but this is only my second day on the pre-op diet.

I am so jealous. I am on an almost all liquid diet. 4-5 Meal Replacement shakes a day (starting at 6:30 am - ending at 7PM). Then I can have SF Jello, SF pudding, and oatmeal that I blend up (haven't tried that yet).

there are bars I can have but they need to be blended too.

I am down 5 lbs in 2 days, so I know it is working but man it is so hard. I am cooking for my family and trying my best not to eat any of it. I keep telling myself that I only have a little over a week left.

I am in the bathroom all day - but I think it is mostly due to the fact that I am just drinking. But hopefully no one at work will notice - that would be embarrassing.

It could be the lactose causing the problem. I battle this problem every day and the shakes make it ten times worse. Try some lactaid to see if that helps and if it does you know it is the lactose causing the bathroom visits. I don't know if that it is what it is for you as I am not a medical professional, but I do know the lactaid helps me with this problem.

Mine starts on Tues and is

1 shake Breakfast

1 shake lunch

I'm extremely nervous. Mine was to be for 2 weeks but I'm starting it a week early to make sure I don't have to push my surgery back!

Day 1 pre-op diet.

Woke up @ 6:45A

First Protein drink @ 9A

Second Protein Drink @ 2pm

It's now 5P and I'm having a bowl of veggie broth - 15 calories

For dinner my mom baked turkey ( I get 4 ounces) and green beans- no butter or anything.

I'm doing ok- but my head is starting to hurt and I'm really tired. Normal?

I just started today and I'm a little worried about how I'm going to get through the next 3 weeks. I'm allowed 2 Protein shakes, 1 Protein bar and 2 cups of vegetables a day. The first day has gone well and I have not felt too hungry... I'll take each day as it comes.

Best of luck to you all!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
