Hey all!

I just wanted to ask if anyone out there is having as rough of a time I as am with my lap band. I was banded on April 13, 2011. I have had 2 fills with 6cc in an 11cc band total. I feel awesome restriction for about a week after the fill then it just goes away and I'm back to where I was. I am truly working hard at making my lap band tool work for me, and I am losing weight, but dieting is just as hard now as it was before surgery... I am kind of sad and regretting getting the band because it doesn't seem to be working at all for me. Everything I lose is by pure will power and refusal of failure, but I'm afraid I'll eventually get frustrated and give up. I didn't go through surgery to have zero help from it. I am more than willing to do what is necessary to work with my band. I know it's a tool I have to use properly in order to work well, but will I ever get a noticeable change in how my restriction feels? Has anyone experienced this? I feel so badly for sounding like I am complaining, but I truly am very frustrated. I know this isn't a miracle cure and will always require work on my end, but I would just like the help that I was seeking in getting surgery to begin with, If I could have done this on my own, I wouldn't have gone through the trouble of surgery. I appreciate any comments you all may leave. Thank you very much for your time.

Your story is my fear. I am going to have Surgery on Tuesday and I am afraid that it won't work.... I will be beyond upset if it does not work. I have been researching and looking at the success rate of the lap band and it is not good at all!!!

It appears that the lap band is like lottery ticket some win and some lose but you have to be in it to win it...

I thought you had to be over 18 to be banded. Your profile says you are 13. Is that accurate?

Oh goodness. lol Thank you for bringing that to my attention. No, I am 23. Accidentally put in 1998 instead of 1988 for my birth year. I'm horrible on computers. ;)

Qtd - u r dioing what u are suppose to. The Band will not FOR u. You have lost by will power and refusal of failure- well that's right. It isn't going to be easy, the Band requires work. Many get it thinking it will be easy, the Band out of the 3 of them is the most hardest. With it must come willpower. , lifestyle change and harder work than the other two require. I personally think the Band is the tool that helps in maintenance more than the initial weight loss. I'm glad u r losing. Maybe you haven't enters the green zone yet. Sometimes it takes many fills to find your sweet spot. Also , I was wondering if you have a leak. If you feel like it is a balloon that slowly loses it firmness then I would ask your Dr cuz that sounds like a leak to me. You have a big size band. It may take 7-8.5 cc to find that sweet spot ! Keep doing what you are doing and you will eventually get it. The Band is awesome , but like any relationship, u have to get to know your Bandress! Then u will find comfort in having it.

Hi QTD, I was banded on the same day and feel as though I have to work with the band every day but that is a good thing until sensible eating practices and exercise become habitual for me. I have had really good weight loss until now although I think I have reached a plateau in the last week or so - that is going to test me!

I started to feel restriction after my third fill (total 5.5 in a 14) and I now feel satisfied on quite small amounts of food, typically less than a cup, plus I don't feel hungry for about 4 to 5 hours. Where I struggle is if I am in situations where I used to eat a lot like sitting down at the end of the day. I'm not hungry but my head still tells me I need to eat something.

Good luck and keep on working that band. I hope you feel restriction soon and enjoy the benefits of losing weight!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
