I just had the band placed last friday the 5th. When they rolled me into delivery i heard the pain doc say that my heart rate had fallin to 24. I tried to stay on top of the pain using the meds. until my heart rate dropped again. The problem the pain was mostly becasue of the co2 pressure in my shoulder and chest. I finally was able to give an enomous belch and threw up a little becasue of the pressure.

My question is how long will i continue to have this gas pain. Its not intense anymore, but i wonder if its trapped my tissues and organs and I will still have issues with it. And did anyone experience tiggling in the feet when they are elevated?

The pain will go away, shortly. My son, also, had surgery on Aug.5. I know that he was uncomfortable yesterday. He bought Gas-X strips. And, he said it made a worlds of difference. He has been walking alot, too. He sometimes asked to be patted in the center of his back to relief the gas. Good luck.

It took me a couple weeks for the shoulder pain to go away. I actually went to the Dr for my follow up and they took Fluid out and gave me a steroid shot to help with the pain. A few days later my pain finally stopped. It was awful, I couldn't sleep, do laundry or clean my house. I feel your pain. Just be patient, it'll pass. :)

for most people gas x or any other gas meds will not help because the gas is trapped in your torso not intestines - they say to walk - that is the only thing that helps but that never helped me - only time helped. i had the worst gas pain between days 3 and 8 after surgery - after day 8 it completely went away. trust me there's a light at the end of the tunnel - it WILL go away soon - best of luck to you!:)

I had surgery on 8/4, and am also having a lot of issues with gas pain. Gas-X doesn't help. Walking helps, but only for a short time, after I get settled again, the gas comes back just as bad as before. I kept reading that it should be gone by day 3, but I am relieved to hear that some people can take up to a week or more. It gives me reassurance that this too shall pass.

I had the surgery on 7/25. I had some shoulder and neck pain and the heating pad releaved it alot. Also used Gas X but I don't think that helped as much as the heating pad. Try it. CAT

I'm 6 days post op. I'm still having has pain but it's nothing like it was the first couple of days. I feel like I'm a fairly tough cookie and there was a couple times where I cried the first couple of days because it hurts so bad. I just keep holding on to hope that it will go away soon. The tightness in my chest is more painful than anything right now... But hopefully that will pass soon too and I can get back to a normal life :-) hope you feel better soon!

Oh thank goodness - I was banded 8/4 and felt pretty good until today... My port site is pretty sore - but the gas that has settled under my sternum is killing me! I have walked and that doubled me over crying, I have tried a shower - some relief, and I have curled up backwards over the arm of my couch to stretch out - and that helped some... I am really hurting and wondering if I did the right thing. I took 3 years to make this decision with my doctor & husband supporting me - but I am so uncomfortable. Thank you all for posting that it will pass - you might just be what gets me through this!

Girl.... I know exactly how you feel. I called my doctor crying today because of the tightness in my chest. He suggested 800 mg of ibuprofen every 6-8 hrs... I wanted to punch him because I thought no way is that going to help! I feel like im having a heart attack! But it did. The pain was so bad I didn't sleep last night. But it really did help.

Also, walk walk walk. And use a heating pad. And warm showers. Those are the things that have helped me.

Thanks to all of you for the support. The gas pain is gone, I feel intestinal gas once in a while, but I know how to fix that.. darn pain meds.. I am 3 days post op and everything is great! The only pain i feel is the stretching from the stiches when i first sit up. I had some blurry vision, with the tingles in my feet. I started drinking more Water, i think it was sympomatic of being dehydrated.

Caught a glipse of your success I cant wait to have a few pounds off too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
