Can bandsters ride rollercoasters

Recommended Posts

I was banded Dec 2008, and it just now came to me that I might not be able to ride a rollercoaster. How many of you have gone on one, did you have any troubles, if so what? Any info would help me determine if it is worth it.

I never thought going on a roller coaster would cause any problems, so a few months after I was banded I went to an amusement park here and it was so strange.

Usually on rides I would get butterflies in my stomach but now with the band I found that feeling stopped. The anticipation of the ride would kill me and then we would be off. I knew when I would get butterflies but those parts of the ride came and went and I didnt feel them.

Apparently the band makes roller coasters less scary.

Trust me still totally worth it! The band was perfectly fine :)

I find that hard to believe. I am a total wimp when it comes to rollercoasters and the fear i am sure is in my head not my stomach!

I sure hope it's fine...because as soon as my fat ass isn't fat anymore, that's one of the first things I'm going to do!!! :)

I was banded in May and have been to Six Flags Over Texas twice this summer, no problems at all! Actually I've been 3 times, because I went two days after surgery and just walked the park. Stupid idea. :)

Thank goodness! I am a coaster junkie and not being able to ride one ever again is almost too scary to think about!

Good luck, everyone!

I haven't been on a roller coaster since I was about 6 or 7 years old when my 2 older brothers played a rotten trick on my on one. Freaked me out so bad that 45 years later I still won't go on one.

I recently went to Carowinds w/ my 9 year old and I will say that I found the wooden coasters to be very herky-jerky and painful. My port area was sore for a couple of days. My advice would be to stick to the smoother, newer coasters.

Almost having to walk away from a coaster because the Six Flags guy couldn't get my harness to latch becuase I was so fat was the moment I decided to have lap band surgery...I had been contemplating it for months...that sealed the deal. Now, after losing 60 pounds, I know I can get on one and I can't freaking wait. I told my surgeon the story, and he said, "In a few months, you can will be able to ride all the coasters you want." Go for it, and enjoy the extra seat room.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
