11 days post-op, what am i doing wrong???

Recommended Posts

hi, I am obviously new here. I am 11 dasy post-op & I can only manage maybe a cup of thin Soup a day, if i am lucky, I know I'm not drinking as much Water as I should as well, its just I have absoutly no physical hunger & no interest in food, including my pre-op diet I have lost approx 13kgs (28.6pounds) in 3.5 weeks.

I am worried as I am susposed to stat dthe puree'd diet on thursday, but I dont know if i am going to be able to as I feel full after my cup of soup & I have no hunger, so I forget to try to have anything more.

Any advice, thoughts, opinions will be greatly received.

I was the same way in the beginning. I had absolutely no appetite or interest in food. My doctor knew and said "If you're not hungry don't eat. Just make sure you are getting enough Water and taking your vitamins." So that is my advise to you. Force yourself to drink water. You don't want to become dehydrated. I did. It was not pleasant!

My doctor said the same thing, "Don't eat if you aren't hungry. I won't force you." Do make yourself drink Water though. At least 64 oz. a day. Keep it right next to you and sip all day.

I had the same problem too, and was given the same advice.

But play it safe, and call your Doctor, just to make sure.

I can relate- in the beginning I was similar - I use low calorie gatorade instead of Water - it comes in many flavors and will give you the electrolytes you need. Keep moving forward you can do this!

What Cindy said! As long as you aren't in pain. But DO get liquids in. Dehydration is dangerous. Sip, sip, sip, all day long.

Hi Witcy,

I was just saying this today myself. I had my op on July 25th. I find it hard to drink much let alone eat. I am sipping Water. I found that a cup of tea or coffee helped me drink. I think it was because it woke up my taste buds.

Do not push yourself if you feel that you can not handle food. But Please Drink Something. I would call the Dr as that is what they are there for.

Let me know how you are doing. Stay well stay safe AND DRINK! rolleyes.gif

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
