Thank you everyone for your support. 4th day post-op, still crazy pain in the sternum but I am certain that will pass with time. Happy to say I ate and egg and a partial Protein shake for Breakfast. WOW....took it VERY slowly because this girl has no desire to throw up. The toddler utensils have helped out greatly.

I am on day 5. I have occasional, severe left shoulder pain that is far worse than any pain form the incisions. For what it is worth, my surgeon said that the shoulder pain is not caused by gas. He said it may come and go for a few months but is perfectly normal.

All in all I feel GREAT and look forward to mushies in a few days. Ha - never thought I'd say that!

I had to go to the ER last nite for IV fluids. Also got rxs for nausea, pain and antibiotics. Had diarrhea starting Thursday and having trouble getting enough fluids. Took off dressings and patch for nausea and got in shower yesterday. Didn't finish shower before I got so weak, lightheaded and short of breath I had to get my boyfriend to get me sitting on toilet while I leaned into him. He was nice and wet after that! Anyway, getting the fluids in today. Still feel weak but haven't slept most of the day like the past several days. Hopefully that's a good sign. When were you guys able to bend over and stuff without discomfort?

I have occasional pain at the base of my sternum, like right before you get a hick up followed by a burp. Only thing is I never get the hickup or the burp. Or like yu gotta burp and it just dont come up. That and port site tenderness is the only issues I got. Not feeling sick or anything, I actually feel great and I was just banded july 25th. Has anyone else expirenced those quick pains near your sternum? Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott: Yes I do feel some sort of pain at the base of my sternum. It's about 2 inches above where the band was placed. (I can tell by the incision there) I took some gas X or tums and its seems to help. Also had some cream of wheat when I felt it and it seemed to pass. Hope this helps. CAT

Thanks Mary. I visit my doctor this Wednesday for my first post-op appointment. I am eating well without complications.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
