the one thing I am not looking forward to

Recommended Posts

So I get banded in 9 days. I know that I am going to have to start exercizing and I am not looking forward to it. My wonderful husband ( who can eat anything and still wears the same size he wore in HS) is helping me with lifting weights 3 times a week. I have an eliptical, but that thing hurts. We also bought a Wii fit. I use it once in a while. I have never liked to exercize and i'm not sure how to modivate myself to WANT to exercize. I am hoping that when I start to drop a few pounds, it will inspire me. Anyone else been there????

been threre? you bet! I did start out with walking and slowly moved on to . I go to curves 5 days a week, take walks with the dh, and ride my inside or out side bike. I now feel bad when I don't get two things in a day. It is funny how it changes, you will get there, good luck

I would start with just walking. Build up distance and speed. Nobody says you have to go from sedentary to P90X in a week. If you have children try and get more exercise with them. Shoot hoops, play catch, take them to the park, take them for a walk. There are lots of things you can do. maybe every night you and your husband take a 2 mile walk? You don't have to be marathon girl right out of the box.

I know it will come eventually. My son is 17, and has his own " Life" ( you know how they can be). My foot dr told me to stay off the tread mill because I have bone spures in both heals. Thas why I got the eliptical. I did Curves for a while, but everyone up there was in their 60-70's. I felt really out of place. I feel like i'm giving excuses. Hopefully it will turn around. Tks for the chat.

I highly recommend swimming, low impact and you can work your way up in time and exertion. I tell myself I can eat dinner after I work out. I always want to eat dinner!

I thought about this too. Pre-band I was lazy, pure lazy. I did nothing. Pre-surgery I decided to start walking, but I couldn't walk far, my shins/ankles would ache like no other. My mom would literally have to drag me to get back home, haha.

Since the weight started to come off, I exercised more, walked more, then went to running, then got into workout DVDs, and now I run and lift weights, and they have become the highlight of my day. I cannot wait to go home, eat, and then workout..and then eat more, LOL!! And let's just say now I run for miles..with my mom lagging behind me :P

Remember that exercise is just moving. Dance around your room. Run up the stairs 5 times. Jump rope. Anything you can do to get yourself moving and your heart beating a bit faster is exercise. It doesn't have to be a mundane jog on the treadmill. Do things you like..just MOVE!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
