I am being banded on 9/1. I am hugely excited and hugely nervous, all at the same time. And I should add in a dash of hugely tired... haha! I am on day 6 of my 2 week pre-OP liquid diet. Fortunately for me, I looooooove yogurt and Soups, so it hasn't been so bad, but my energy is a little low.

I'm sharing a surgery date with a few of you; I'll be banded on September 8, 2011. There seem to be many early September bandsters; I'm excited to have people to share this journey with. Best wishes to all of you!

I'm in the Chicago area too....My date to be banded is 9/21!

I just got my insurance approval and band date of 9/15!! I'm in the Chicago area, and I'm so excited that I can't sit still. It seems like such a long process, and I'm so relieved to finally get started with this!! It sounds crazy - but I can't wait!

Good Luck Annie!! Keep us posted on your progress! I'm on day 14 of my preop diet and I've got a week to go. I can't imagine anything being tougher than this part of the process. The only thing I get that is not sweet is broth, and I'm even burned out on that. I just got back from a week's vacation, and yes - I did my liquids the whole time while everyone else ate. I hope the next week goes as fast!

I just got my insurance approval so my 9/28 date is set! I only have two days of a clear liquid diet since my doc's office requires patients to lose weight before surgery. I'm so ready!

That is great! So was my surgery, I am one week and one day post-op as of today! I'm hanging in there, reading my material, and NOW able to drink Protein drinks as of yesterday. For one week, I was clear liquid only, with 20-30 grams of Protein daily. So, my diet consists of popsicles,Water, chicken broth, Jello, and NOW cloudy Protein shakes.

I really don't know what to expect, I plan on just enjoying the ride and doing whatever it is that I am supposed to being doing.

My only concern is the following:

Starting next week (Friday), I can have "soft" foods, like Soups, pudding, potato, eggs etc. BUT ONLY half a cup per serving. When it comes to Soup, how will I be able to only have a 1/2 cup per serving three times per day?...I can now drink more than 4-6oz per hour, up to 8oz, of course these are all sips (not gulping aloud).

I DON'T WANT TO CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY NEW TOOL!!!

Also, are there any questions I need to ask the MD on my 1st post-op visit? I have a few, but for those that have been there and done that suggestions are welcomed!!!

Thanks!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
