I am SOOO Excited!!!!! Today I am 13 days post op and have lost 24 pounds since my pre-op appt. So about a year ago there were these super sexy pair of jeans at Macy's that were on sale super cheap. The only problem, I was a size 24 (when I sucked in) and the jeans were a size 18!!!! I thought, what they heck, they are cheap enough, I'll just buy them as GOAL Jeans. WELL... Tonight I was trying to find something to wear to go out ot dinner and I saw them and decided to try them on just to see how much longer it may be before I get to wear my "sexy Jeans" WELL............... They went OVER my hips without a prob, and as I grabbed the waistline and pulled the button to the hole, it buttoned perfectly easily without me having the lay down, suck in or squeeze myself in them!! I am SO excited! THEY FIT PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wore them to dinner just becuase I could and I feel great!!!!

So heres to my FIRST NSV! What are some of yours you are expirencing?????

The first one I remember was when I was trying on the jeans that my mother bought me way back when. I thought that I still had a ways to go before I could wear them again. I tried them on to keep myself motivated because I was a little down and wouldn't you know they were too big! My last one was going into Rainbow Shops and bought a dress that was on the skinny side, not plus. And just one more we have to keep each other motivated so, last one. I can fit a 13/14 from Rue 21. I have not be able to do that since the 90's. Congrats and keep it up!

Fitting into smaller clothes is juch a great NSV. Congrats to you. I was at banana Republic and took size 2's into the dressing room (they run 1,2,3). They were all too big! I needed 0s and 1s. It felt awsome.

My was last week, I bought these outfits about 2 years ago and they never fit size 14 and I put them on and they all fit and a bit loose. Then I tried on some of my regular clothes that I wore before surgery they were hanging off of me. Feels good! So, far I have lost 27 lbs and I am on my 8th week post op.

One of my goal pants I will only get to wear for a couple more weeks, I forgot about them and now they are too big! I have another pair that I try one once a week and slowly they are getting closer and closer to fitting. Soon, very soon.

I was able to get up on the swim step of a wake board boat on the 4th of July weekend. One of my biggist fears, that I would be stuck in the lake not be able to get back on the boat. Wow what a wonderful feeling. Huge NSV for me.

My all time favorite was when my daughter came out of her dance class a while back and said to her self who is that pretty lady ? Then I turned around and she said oh wow thats my mom.

Wow! Great job! I was on vacation and realized that most of what I packed was too big. I ran in to Fashion Bug to get a pair of shorts and as I entered the sales lady asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I told her I needed a pair of shorts and she said "well your looking in the plus sized section, you'll need to look over here" and gestured toward the "regular" sizes. I was shocked and she was right! The 14s fit perfect! It's weird that I didn't recognize how much I've lost until that moment! Yay!

Yay! to all! My best NSV, was when I was bowling last Sunday. We were discussing the next week, and I said well Sunday is my birthday, so not sure if we will come. Then I went to bowl. The lady on the other team asked my son how old I was going to be, he said 63. She said "wow! She doesn't look a day over 50." He told me this later on. Man, I was like do I feel great or what. Karen

I think my favorite was the time I stopped at my girlfriend's house on my way home from the gym. I was wearing shorts and a sports bra kinda thing. As I pulled up in front of her house her son (just home from Iraq) was getting in his truck. He knew I had had surgery and lost weight but we hadn't seen each other since his deployment. As I walked up the driveway I could tell he was checking me out in his side mirror and I heard him say "WHOA!" kinda under his breath. I stopped and said hello and welcomed him home and he just stared at me with his eyes bugging out and his chin down to his chest and didn't say anything. I leaned into the window and said "Hey, Adam," He said "Yea?" and I said "You can close your mouth now!" LOL!! Poor kid was so embarrassed! He may be a 6'4" lean mean fighting machine now but I've known him since he was 4 years old and afraid to go potty by himself!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
