14 CC Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi 14 cc Bandsters,

I'm just curious at what point you have achieved good restriction or hit your "sweet spot" with the larger band? I am just trying to prepare myself so I won't expect too much too soon. Thanks for any responses!

Molly

Hi Molly, my surgeon and people on this board say the sweet spot comes at a different point for everyone so that's a really difficult question to answer. I have a 14cc band and feel as though I have hit my sweet spot at 5.5cc (three fills, 2.5, 2 and 1cc.)

It feels great to be satisfied with small amounts of healthy foods. Plus I have discovered that I was not actually "hungry" most of the time when I was eating before. I still feel that "head hunger" but have found that I don't actually want or need to eat food, which makes me think about why I am feeling as I do.

Good luck!

Tracey

Thanks, Tracey! I've had one fill so far (2cc's) and go for my next one this Thursday at which time I will get another 2cc's. My dr. will apparently not fill any higher than 2cc's at a time. I know it will be different for each person, but just trying to get an idea of the variations, especially with the larger band. I've read where some people have 12cc's in their 14cc band and say they are still not feeling any restriction. I'm following the diet I'm supposed to and I'm losing weight....but am pretty hungry most of the time. I'll do what I need to in order to get the weight off and keep it off. I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic, but am curious about everyone else and how much fill they have needed to get a decent restriction.

Thanks again for your response and best wishes to you!

I have a 14 cc band and was at 9.3 cc at my highest. While my portion sizes are smaller, they were certainly not the 1 cup then done size. I could eat 3-4 chicken tenders, a cup of veggies, and still have room for a cup of carbs. I had all of it removed for a stomach virus and they were only able to fill it back up to like 6 or 7 cc now. So back to what I was before. I was banded in January and have a loooong way to go. /sigh Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and be filled rather quickly and get to your sweetspot. Good luck!

Nicole

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
