I have four medications that aren't related to the surgery that I take daily. Yes, I can take some of them. My birth control pill is small enough and another one I can snap in half and wait 30 minut

  • I'm one wek post op and I take several meds some of which are quite large. The only one I break in half is Metformin ( horse pill)! The others I just take one at a time with several drinks of water.

  • Hey everyone Just checking in.. tomorrow is one week since surgery, and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm still not having as much liquids as i'm supposed to (maybe half.. if that..) but things seem to be

Update: Staph infection confirmed. Now on two types of antibiotics and my first fill (scheduled for tomorrow) is cancelled. :(

Amy

Sorry Amy: Just hang in there. The antibiotics will surely help clear it up. Stay positive as you have been. CAT

Amy, how's the infection doing? Hopefully antibiotics are killing it...

Finally got the 4 pounds of water/bloating off me again, back at 172 pounds. I still feel almost no restriction. Haven't lost any weight since hitting 172, but I also know that 172 has always been a MAJOR plateau for me. I have always had trouble at this weight. But, I have lost some more fat around my middle, so maybe my body is morphing into a more efficient machine. I HOPE. I swear, I am under 1000 calories per day.

Oh, and any of you who live in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area: I'm doing the 9-11 5K on September 10. Any band buddies want to join me?

I'm still about the same, thanks for asking. I met with the surgeon yesterday and he just said to keep taking the medicine and I can have my fill next Wednesday (once finished with meds). I also got my lab results back from the primary care doc and things look surprisingly good. I posted what Vitamins she tested on my blog if you're interested. In another month or so, she'll do more labs to check the cholesterol, sugars & thyroid, just to make sure things are on the up and up. She basically said she'll test whatever I want her to - my main concern is losing weight in a healthy way, and not putting my body through hell in the process.

Aye. I PB'd and gagged up 2 chicken nuggets tonight. It was so scary. I ate too fast. Man, it happened quickly. Not even five minutes after I finished the second one, the dry heaving started, but really the whole thing was over in like 2 minutes. It was like choking. Not cool. I did drink some warm water, but man. Eeeeeek. I can't imagine if that would have happened in public.

Amy, that sounds scary. Glad you were better after a few minutes. I am nervous about that.

I've realized that I used to gulp water all day. I don't really drink anything but water and usually a lot of it. I'm mourning that capability. I've been very slowly sipping water and it takes about an hour to get 8 oz down. Is this normal or am I being overly cautious? I don't really get any physical signals to drink slower or faster, but I'm afraid I'll stretch my pouch.

I'm 9 days post-op, feeling good, some moments of pain, little gas still. But sometimes I have brief thoughts, will I ever feel normal towards something simple as drinking water again, and what have I done to myself. Upside, I've lost 15 lbs. so I have to keep focussed on what great things these changes (good and bad) will bring.

Sorry, little bit of a rant ...

Also, Shauna how are you, hope you are doing well!

Has anyone tried hotdogs? I'm making them for my kids' dinner tonight, and I would just love to cut one up into tiny pieces to eat.

Amy, sorry about the PBing. I am having the worst day because my digestive track is way off kilter. My daughter is sick too, so wondering if I have another bout of stomach flu coming. Glad I haven't had fill yet. Ugh...

Haven't tried hotdogs but I had vienna sausages...pretty easy to go down.

Hot dogs are on my "be extremely cautious" list. It says to take of the outside and go for the inside only, but it should be the low fat kind. In general they're really salty, which will probably bite ya in the butt later when you crave something sweet to balance it out. At least that's what it would do to me. Don't see anything wrong with just a bite or two, though.

How's everyone doing? Shauna, Lisa, all of you?

I'm stalled at 172, my nemesis weight through the past 10 years. I know once I break through the plateau I will be ok but I'm frustrated right now. For some perverse reason my body thinks this weight is right for me. Ugh...

Looking forward to my first fill. Hope you all are doing well.

172lbs has always been my stuck at weight in the past too. My first mini goal is to get to 165lbs. The lowest I have ever gotten was 166lbs, I didn't stay there long mind you, but I just want to beat that number!

I am two weeks post-op and started mushies yesterday. I am finding myself so hungry lately! The clinic says that is a sign that I am healing which is good, but I just want to eat everything and ice cream has become my nemesis. I am going to try to increase the protein today and see if that helps stave off some of this hunger.

i've tried hotdogs and they are fine, just chew them really well. anyone here had a fill and finds they are sliming more (i guess that makes sense because we are tighter)...i've learned to chew more and swallow slower and stop when i know i should to avoid this, but the first few days, it kept happening, and it was nasty...i went to the movies last weekend, and had to run to the bathroom 7 times to throw up a bit everytime, and it was the food with a ton of mucuous!

Keep up the good work, Shauna! I believe you'll make your weight before your 40th!

Just wanted to say I am soooo happy...weighed myself for the first time in a week and I was down 6 lbs! I am so surprised because I don't have much restriction and have been eating pretty much whatever I want, just in smaller portions. Might hit my goal weight in time for my 40th Bday after all!

Shauna

Serifa - I'm 14 days post op and nervous like you. Congrats on losing 15 lbs. I lost most of my weight already prior to surgery. I'm very nervous because I still have two weeks of liquid diet and I'm not sure how much more I'll lose so transitioning back to "real food" I'm afraid of PBing and stretching - all the bad as well as all the good.
