    July 2011 Bandsters!

Hello my fellow July bandstars!!! I've had 1 fill so far and dropped about 2 sizes. Although lately I've been feeling like I've gained instead of losing. I actually haven't stepped on a scale in about a month...I moved and I'm commuting very far for work everyday. My exercising is non-existent but I try to keep moving, parking far, walking at a faster pace, things like that. I skipped a fill because i was scared to step on the scale at the dr's office. I've had 4 instances of food being stuck...the worst one while driving, SCARY! I'm determined today to make the numbers go back down! Upping my protein shake intake, and returning to the healthier food choices and not just the quick ones in small amounts. I'm still shying away from breads and pasta (maybe 1 serving every 2 weeks) No sodas, and trying to limit my sugar intake. You guys keep me in your prayers/thoughts. This is something I've worked hard for and I don't want to mess it up. Best wishes!
  3. I'm in the same boat as everyone else! Glad to see I'm not the only one who's feeling discouraged. I was banded in July and the weight was falling off...and now...my stomach is poking back out. I no longer have that "thin" feeling when I wake up in the morning. Although my workouts have stopped (currently commuting 4 hrs each day for work) I know that to get the scale moving I must move more, and not rely just on eating the right things. I didn't go get a second fill yet, because I was scared to step on the scale and it tell me I gained! I hope everyone finds encouragement! We can do this!

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Haven't tried hotdogs but I had vienna sausages...pretty easy to go down.
  5. A couple days ago I went to Bojangles and ordered a 2 piece meal with pinto Beans, I asked for no biscuit. Well I'm riding down the road and what do I smell....BISCUIT! I promptly threw it out of the window and it decided it didn't want to go. I had to literally stop the car and throw it out of the window again, smh @ bread!! On a high note, I was sure to peel the skin off of the chicken! Only managed to eat half of the meal.

    July 2011 Bandsters!

You sound just like me! I almost fainted in target i was so hungry! I started mushies a day early (today instead of tomorrow) and I feel fine! I'm 9 days out if that helps any.
  7. Great Job everyone! I was banded 7/18 with 6 days of liquid pre-op diet, I've loss a total of 29 pounds so far! Moving to mushies on Wednesday, butttttt I had a bite of chili tonight. I chewed until there was no flavor and I feel fine. Hunger was making me mean.
  8. The local forums are dead....the Twenties forums are dead! So here is my SOS! If you're mid 20s-30s and located in the DMV area (DC, PG, Alexandria, Fairfax, Arlington Co., Mo. Co. etc.) Please send me a message!! I would like to get a monthly support group going where we meet up once a month to share stories, vent, rant, and EAT! ---healthy band approved stuff of course Thanks everyone for your support, Shonda
  9. I was the first surgery of the day on July 18th. Got there about 6:30 and was in the room by 7:30. The last thing I remember was the nurse saying "be sure not to fall off the table!" I have a fear of going under, but the doctors at my hospital were understanding and didn't use a mask. I woke up to a recovery nurse telling me not to fight the pain and just take the drugs LOL She was also praising my doctor on how great he was, and how perfect the surgery was....I think she has a crush on him. I went home the same day and was extremely moody, we kept hitting bumps, then had to turn around and head back to the hospital because I had lost my prescriptions. My mom was not too happy with me and my attitude. The next day I started my monthly...stupid PCOS! It explains my extreme attitude though. Gas pain was terrible, I mean TERRIBLE I felt like death the first two days post op, I'm finally (5 days post) starting to feel normal. I'm a stomach sleeper so night time is hard. Sipping beverages is not easy, with the heat I just want to gulp an entire cup of water. I'm experiencing chest pains, it like I want to burp but it won't come out and it's painful. Has anyone else experienced this???
  10. I posted this on the double post but... Hunger pains have been hitting me HARD today :-( Went to the movies...ugh and I don't even like movie theater popcorn! I can't wait until next wednesday when I'm on the mushies phase....mashed potatoes, broccoli, and salmon are calling my name. and although I will only be able to eat 3 or 4 bites they will be WELL worth it! So HECK NO you are not alone!
  11. Earlier today I had some fat free cream of chicken soup, added fat free milk and water to thin it out. To my pleasant surprised a small piece of chicken made its way into my cup...I didn't eat it but I chewed and spit it out. It's the most satisfaction i've gotten since being banded on Monday :-/

    July 2011 Bandsters!

I'm 3 days out and today I walked around in the heat to run a few errands. I was EXHAUSTED afterwards but you should be fine for a job interview! Grab a bottle of Water and put yourself in the go-getter mindset. Most interviews run about an hour...so that's an hour you have to pretend that you didn't have a major surgery and you aren't weak and in a slight amount of pain. :0)

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Glad you're feeling better! how are you sleeping? I favor the same side as my port to sleep and it is down right painful.
  15. Just wanted to let you guys know I made it! Yesterday was the day and I was feeling out of it! Today the gas pains are terrible but I took some gas-x and I'm walking around to relieve it.
  16. My surgery is Monday (July 18th) with Dr. Moazzez in Farfax VA. I'm new to the area and all of my family is in NC. My mom is coming up to be with me for the surgery, but has to return to work on that Wednesday. Do you think it's wise for me to travel back to NC with her, so I will at least have family support to look after me during recovery. Granted it's a 5 hour drive after surgery and I would make sure we stopped every hour so I could walk around and stretch. My living situation isn't the quietist, and I would love to have the family support during this first week. There is a bariatric surgeon about 30 minutes away from my hometown, so if something happened I would have access to him. What you guys think?
  17. Thanks everyone for your help! I've decided to stay in my apartment for my recovery! I actually went home for the weekend and realized my mother and I can only be together for about 48 hours tops! LOL My landlord lives above me and has had some noisy houseguest for the past two weeks, which was my concern about sticking around. But if I'm feeling up to it, I'm sure I'll be walking around, and trying to organize around my place!
  18. Tomorrow is the big day for me! I have a paper due tonight and just figured out I was able to keep drinking opti-fast although I've been on a self-induced clear liquid day. I'm feeling more stress which isn't good! Wish me luck!

    PRE-Op Lap Band Diet

I didn't have to do the supervised diet! I have Carefirst VA...my insurance rep. at the surgeons office lit up like a christmas tree when I told her that. They are one of the easier companies to deal with.

will i burn in lapband hell?

My surgeon put me on a week of opti-fast. The first day, which was this past monday (11th) I was invited to a MLB Gala...I walk in and i'm immediately surrounded by margaritas, steak, chicken, shrimp, Desserts, I could go on and on. Needless to say....I REALLY started the diet the next day. So I understand your frustrations. The cheating part is good! It helps you recognize your relationship with food and to curve those cravings when you are on a mission! Best of luck to you my surgery is on Monday...I'll keep you in prayers!
  21. So happy to hear about your weight loss! Great Job! My surgery is on monday...making my supply list today and Gas X will be the first thing on the list!
  22. Give us an update on how you're feeling! :)

  23. My friend just recommended Jay Robb Whey Protein at GNC she said it was yummy.
  24. Good luck on your surgery! July 5th is my final appt with my Dr. M! I didn't have a pre-op diet either, just to lose 10 pounds. Did you cut back on your eating or live on Protein shakes?
  25. You forgot about me My surgery is July 18th!
